Doug, that's asinine.  He threw two to Peyton that bounced off his chest, and two to Amarri Jackson that he dropped both in the 2nd half.  Not to mention Amarri could have given a better effort for the fade route in the 1st half.  He looked like a SF going up for a rebound against a center and afraid to foul.  Jockey for position.

Five passes were not PJ's fault, sure Peyton made a great catch but it was the least he could do for dropping two that hit him in the **** chest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Good God, a receiver's job is to make his QB look good, and most of the time these receivers are doing their best to amplify any perceived issues with PJ.  PJ isn't a world beater but dammit the guy played well, now go pound salt.

Good points.

I don't get these guys who are anti-PJ. He had 8 freaking incompletions and no picks!!! He didn't even take a sack. There were definitely some drops. Give the kid a break. He had over 60% completion rate.

Are you guys not happy unless he completes every single pass right between the numbers in stride??

We even have anti-PJ guys (cee) on here that say Hart was the better QB!! Insane. He threw 3 picks, had at least one fumble and was sacked twice.

You were making a good argument until this one.  Hart was trying to bring a team back from behind, he had to take chances.  PJ didn't have to do squat, except not make any mistakes.  The Bulls receivers were so wide open most of the time, Denson could have hit them in stride.  PJ did fine, but let's not give him the Heisman just yet.

Denson would have been more than happy to hit a defensive back in stride with his 1st or 2nd pass.

I'm not giving PJ the Heisman at all. No reason to get on his back for this game. He did all he needed to do to win. PJ throws a pick every 30 attempts and Denson throws a pick every 9 pass attempts. He is not an option. Get over it.

By the way the only reason Hart was playing from behind was because HE threw a pick for a TD and fumbled another for a TD in the first 10 minutes of the game!! That's a lame ass excuse. The only reason he had to take chances was because he put them in a hole.

Do you people even watch these games??

You said one bad pass.  The Peyton one hander, the bounced pass and the pass to Carter was a little behind him.  That's three passes that could of been better without really thinking about it.  There in lies my disagreem't.  AS for pounding salt...let's not get mean spirited.  I'm here to discuss and make argum'ts.  On this issue we aren't completely in different books but definitely different pages.  How's this on for you?  PJ will be the starter in '06.  No redshirt freshman is gonna beat out a three yr starter.  Hopefully PJ will step iit up like the Auburn QB did in '04.

I'm afraid you're right about that....and this is the thought that wakes me up in the middle of the night.  Ã‚ Another year of see-saw QBing.  Ugh.  PJ played OK on Sat, but I still cringe everytime he drops back to pass.

Im surprised that there haven't been any references to Marcus Vicks performance versus the Hurricanes. Similar to PJs and I thought plenty of foder for PJ fans.

Marcus Vick Has Nightmare Night Vs. Canes

By HANK KURZ Jr.

AP Sports Writer

Posted November 6 2005, 1:19 AM EST

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech's Marcus Vick finally looked like a first-year starter Saturday night, and the Hokies no longer look like championship contenders. The junior quarterback threw two interceptions and lost four fumbles in a 27-7 loss to No. 5 Miami, going from being the efficient, sometimes spectacular leader of the third-ranked Hokies through an 8-0 start to one who could hardly do anything right.

Vick ended the Hokies' first four possessions of the second half with three fumbles, and an interception as the Hurricanes turned a 10-0 lead at the break into a 27-0 blowout, the kind usually reserved for visitors to sold out Lane Stadium.

The first of the fumbles in that stretch led to a touchdown, and the second was a touchdown, too, with Kareem Brown recovering in the end zone for the No. 5 Hurricanes.

In one stretch, Vick coughed the ball up three times in five snaps.

The mistakes, he said, were "just me being reckless out there."

But Vick's problems were not his alone, coach Frank Beamer said.

"He had a lot of people back there in the backfield with him," Beamer said.

Vick was sacked four times, and finished 8-for-22 for just 90 yards.

"He didn't play his best," tight end Jeff King said. "Sometimes the line doesn't play their best. He didn't play his best tonight. It wasn't all his fault either."

It wasn't supposed to go like this for the Hokies (8-1, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Not in Lane Stadium. Not against their former Big East rivals. And surely not with a guy named Vick at quarterback.

In its history, Virginia Tech was 28-1 in games started by Marcus Vick or his brother, Michael, who led the Hokies to the national championship game in 1999.

The Hurricanes (7-1, 4-1) seemed unimpressed, even though Vick came into the game ranked second nationally in passing efficiency, having thrown 11 touchdown passes and only five interceptions, often countering youthful mistakes with dazzling plays.

Three of his interceptions came in a victory against Maryland, but he more than made up by throwing for 211 yards and running for a career-high 133 more and a TD.

There was no such magic for Michael Vick's little brother against a team that matches the Hokies' speed, hit Vick repeatedly and likely left him seeing stars.

"He's such a competitor. He wants everything to go just right," Beamer said. "I've got a lot of belief in Marcus. I think he'll come back and leads us to a lot of wins."

The Hokies trailed 10-0 at halftime, but had outscored opponents 157-29 in the second half this season, so they came out eager to take control of the game.

It never happened.

Miami took the kickoff and drove for a field goal. Vick then drove the Hokies to the Miami 42 with the help of his second and third completions of the game -- in 12 attempts -- but then coughed the ball up, with Orien Harris recovering for Miami.

Nine plays later, Kyle Wright's 9-yard pass to Darnell Jenkins made it 20-0.

After a botched kickoff return, Vick got the ball at his own 11. He was sacked for a 4-yard loss by Rocky McIntosh on first down, and fumbled again on third-and-17 from the 4 when hit by Luqman Nanton. Kareem Brown recovered for Miami in the end zone.

Vick also fumbled the ball away on the next series, then threw his second interception on the next, making the rest of the game a grueling exercise.

By the time Vick ran 2 yards for a touchdown with 8:06 remaining, all thoughts of a trip to the Rose Bowl were gone for the Hokies, and the only moderately positive news was that Vick's run extended their string of games without being shut out to 131.

It was no consolation.

Pat managed the game well today.  No turnovers, nice runs, and every now and then a nice completion.  This is all we have to do the rest of the year to win 3 out 4.  He'll need to do a bit more against WVU, but at least its a start.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
