It has just been posted on the UCFsports.com free board, that the UCF ticket office has sold out their allotment of USF-UCF tickets. Just thought I'd let you know.  As you are also aware, many UCF fans are purchasing through TicketMaster in order to get large blocks of seating.

Why not post this on the thread talking about the UCF attendance? I'm sure someone there can find it for you ...

Do we know the number allotted?

(Found it off a NIU Football site believe it or not.)

Grid lock: UCF will play USF

By Alan Schmadtke | Sentinel Staff Writer

Posted May 3, 2003

After years of a cajoling, on-and-off attempts at legislative intervention and hearing much silence from Tampa Bay, UCF finally has the football game it coveted.

Coming in 2005:Central Florida vs. South Florida.

The schools signed a two-year football contract Friday with expectations of an annual rivalry that should benefit both schools' pocketbooks.

"It's light years away, but at least it's on paper," UCF Coach Mike Kruczek said. "It's a perfect match, and I think there's tremendous enthusiasm on both sides. It's going to be special for both of us."

A week after signing Kruczek to a contract extension through 2007 and ready to mark his first anniversary on the job, UCF Athletic Director Steve Orsini got the game Kruczek and Knights fans have wanted for years.

It came after South Florida AD Lee Roy Selmon followed through on his promise to schedule UCF as soon as he finished USF's 2003 schedule.

"I'm really happy for our students and for the fans of UCF," Orsini said. "When I go out and speak, the one question that Ialways get is, 'When are you going to play USF?' Now we're going to."

Since USF's football program began in 1997 -- and sensing a chance to fill up the Citrus Bowl every other year -- UCF continually approached the Bulls about a home-and-home series. Time after time, South Florida's answer was no.

Political and media pressure gradually built through the years, leading to an oral agreement between UCF President John Hitt and South Florida President Judy Genshaft last year. That led to a December meeting of Orsini and Selmon in Lakeland.

But in February, after the Bulls confirmed they were looking for three games for 2003, South Florida said no again. That UCF offered to play the first game in Tampa made no difference.

State Sen. Lee Constantine, R-Altamonte Springs, a UCF alum, wrote a legislative amendment in 2001 forcing the two schools to schedule each other (and later withdrew the amendment); he added another one during this session of the legislature. But there already was movement.

After saying "no" in February, Selmon promised to call UCF in March to talk about future games. Within weeks of a call in March, the schools had agreed on 2005 and 2006 and went to work on the details.

The series starts Sept. 17, 2005 in Tampa with a return game in Orlando on Sept. 16, 2006. Assuming the rivalry is extended, it allows UCF to play USF at home during years when it faces Mid-American Conference foes Marshall and Miami on the road. Conversely, the Knights would play at USF in years Marshall and Miami are scheduled to visit Orlando.

South Florida will pay UCF $200,000 for the trip to Raymond James Stadium; UCF will return the $200,000 for the Bulls' game at the Citrus Bowl.

The visiting school will receive 5,000 tickets, an amount that likely will be less than its fans' demand. The home team is allowed to set the ticket prices, and no limits were placed on the pricing.

The contract includes a $200,000 buyout.

Although the contract is for two games, it also calls for a long-term series with dates to be determined. Orsini said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio already have talked about creating a trophy to mark the rivalry.

Friday's announcement was one of two for the Bulls, who begin playing as a Conference USA member this fall. South Florida also announced a 2005 game at Penn State.

The addition of the USF game means UCF must make some decisions about overloaded schedules in 2005 and '06. The Knights must cut three games each season to pare their numbers to 11 games, including eight MAC games.

In 2005, UCF has non-conference road games scheduled with South Carolina, West Virginia, South Florida, Louisiana-Lafayette and North Carolina State and a non-conference home game with Louisiana Tech.

In '06, the Knights are scheduled to play non-conference games at Georgia, Florida and South Carolina and play non-conference home games with USF, UL-Lafayette and NC State. In addition, the South Carolina and USF games are scheduled for the same day.

Turns out the cows only gave us 3400 tickets.  This figure did not cover teh number of requests made by season ticket holders.  So we have requested more and have not yet heard back.

A lie ....

State Sen. Lee Constantine, R-Altamonte Springs, a UCF alum, wrote a legislative amendment in 2001 forcing the two schools to schedule each other (and later withdrew the amendment); he added another one during this session of the legislature.

Pathetic ..............

We'll get it moved yet .....    ;)

Well....I don't think you'll have any trouble getting tickets on game day. Contrary to what some may think, this ain't UF vs. FSU.  ;)
