The USF Bulls have landed Virginia Tech transfer OL Thomas Jarrett Hopple

Hopple confirmed on Friday morning that he is transferring to USF. Hopple is not sure of the exact date he will be on campus but said he would arrive in Tampa shortly. "I think not until the beginning of camp," said Hopple.

He would have been a redshirt sophomore for the Hokies this season and will have at least two years of eligibility left. Hopple will have to sit this season per the NCAA transfer rule but should give the Bulls some solid depth starting in 2019.

We definitely still need bodies up front so even if he's just depth this is a nice snag.

This guy is 6'7 305...  Hopefully he's more than depth.

Yeah he's definitely a big kid but he was buried on the depth chart at Tech.   OL transfers rarely work out not just at USF but pretty much across college football.  If coaches think you're a good OL (especially OT) they will usually bend over backwards to keep you from leaving.  Good offensive linemen (especially tackles) are probably the most valuable commodity in college football behind quality QB's so coaches will do everything in their power to hold on to them.    I hope this kid bucks the trend but the success rate of OL transfers isn't very good.....

I would hope with a year to learn the playbook, practicing, weight-room and getting to know his new teammates that he will succeed at USF.
