From the Sarasota-Herald Tribune:

Gauntt, Force fall 3 short

Former Booker High and University of South Florida quarterback Glenn Gauntt served as the backup signal-caller for the Georgia Force, which fell to Colorado 51-48 Sunday in ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas.

Gauntt appeared in nine games this season for the National Conference champions. He completed 15 of 18 passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns, and his quarterback efficiency rating for the season was 147.2.

It was Gauntt's third season in the Arena League. He had previously played for the Carolina Cobras and the Dallas Desperados.

Blackwell beat Gauntt out for the job and then he quit.  Believe he tried to play baseball but didn't make the team.

Gauntt was the starter up until the 4th quarter of the SDSU game.  He got pummpled  so JL finally put freshman blackwell in there, who quickly scored a touchdown and that was all she wrote for GG.  Blackwell started every game the rest of his time at usf.

Actually, GG also started the SW Tex St game then Blackwell came in.

Have to wonder if GG can stick in the AFL why couldn't Blackwell?

if being on the Storm practice squad one season counts as a tryout, then yes.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
