Bulls land brothers Laing from Tallahassee

Longtime South Florida lean and three-star defensive end Trey Laing from Leon HS in Tallahassee made things official verbally committing to the Bulls on Sunday along with his younger brother Kyler Laing.

Kyler said the whole family made the trip down to Tampa just before the summer dead period to meet with the Bulls staff and that led to Sunday's decision for both brothers to commit.

"We went down on Friday with our family and we wanted to see everything and we got to meet with coach Strong. Coach Strong really got our attention talking about the education aspect and Trey and I wanted to go to the same college and we both wanted to be close to home so our parents could see us, so USF is a great fit for us and our family," Kyler said.

Bulls assistant coach Justin Burke was the lead recruiter both Laing brothers and he made a strong impression on the family.

"Coach Burke was really excited when we committed and he told both Trey and myself he likes the way we use our hands on defense. He is a really humble coach and that stood out," Kyler said.

Seeing all of campus and meeting with the staff also helped make the decision easy for the Laing family.

"The campus at USF is really impressive and it is rising up. It is a newer campus and they are building all kinds of new stuff and even things like a Publix are right there. The coaches are really humble and Trey and I can play together so it made sense for us to commit."

Trey is the sixth commitment for 2018 while Kyler is the first for 2019 for the Bulls.

This kid is going to be a big time player.  He does a lot of things good on his tape.  He understands leverage at the end position, he tries to push everything inside which is what good ends do.  He has a really fast spin move and he's a good bull-rusher.  Long and rangy and has great athleticism...  great get! Charlie Strong is killing it right now.  I'm loving these guys.  Normally I nitpick with picks... but so far, I'm like "in Charlie we trust."  lol

Folks, this can't be stated enough... the power of Publix Subs just landed us a stud recruit!!

Public... winning hearts, minds, and recruits...  lol

USF is becoming a destination for these recruits.  Back to back coaches that can recruit, but I think what Strong is doing is really impressive.  He's getting these guys who are not borderline qualifiers... guys make it to campus and that's important.  If were going to fault Taggart's recruiting here that would be where I'd do so.  He got a few big time guys who never made it to campus, or they didn't make it past the first season.

Charlie is building off a strong foundation.  He is constructing a behemoth! :GoBulls:  With the help of Public that is. :428_golfer:

That is why if Publix would only be the sponsor and major donor for our on campus stadium, it would only get better.  :-)

It just hit me. We've got an ocs sitting there just begging for a sponsor now. If there's anything that could kick the **** out of the Curse it would be the Big Green teamed up with Vinik .... Getting chills just thinking about it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
