Newest projection has us as a 2 seed in the Gainesville Bracket.  UCF is a 3 seed in the Winston Salem Bracket.  ECU has dropped out entirely, as has FGCU as they've had a tough week.  The only other AAC teams that are in are UConn and Houston.  Alot of baseball left, need to keep winning 2 out of 3 every series.

Go Bulls!

Are the Gators any good this year?

They have a good RPI at #12.

But, they have been hot and cold. 22-11 overall and 6-6 in the SEC.

They split games with UCF and FGCU beat them.

Last week, Stetson had them down 10-1 when the game was called on account of rain and won't be completed.

"The American Athletic Conference, as it has since its inception, remains tightly packed and could move in a multitude of directions. Connecticut, which joined the Top 25 this week, projects as the AAC champion, but the Huskies have South Florida, Houston, Central Florida and a suddenly red-hot Tulane team on their heels.

East Carolina, the preseason No. 6 team, has had a disappointing start to conference play, going 0-6 against the Huskies and Cougars. The Pirates, at No. 67 in the RPI and 19-15 overall, don’t have a regional-quality resume at this point and have dropped out of the field.

Also dropping out of the field this week is Florida Gulf Coast, which started Atlantic Sun Conference play with back-to-back series losses. Jacksonville takes over as the conference’s projected champion, but the Eagles remain in the mix. Their RPI has fallen to No. 49 and they have only four games left against top 100 RPI teams. FGCU will need to find a way to improve its RPI to get back in the field as an at-large team."

We'll find out alot about our conference this weekend.  UConn plays at Tulane this weekend.  UCF goes to ECU.  Both of these are interesting series for opposite reasons.  ECU is pretty much in a must win situation.  They need 2 of 3, while UCF could really use this series win.  If either team gets swept, they are in real trouble.  UConn already leads the conference at 6-0, but Tulane could close the gap with a winning series.  We just need to win our series versus Cincinnati to keep pace with the top of the league.

Crazy how last week's projections didn't have USF in the field and now they have the Bulls as a 2 Seed. Need to keep it going!

Some of that is shoddy reporting, some of that is inevitable. A lot of the 3-4 seeds are auto qualifiers from winning their conferences, so there are times a team can just make it into the field of 64 and still get a 2 seed over a weak 3-4 due to them winning a conference and not being any good. Sort of like how we were in the play in game to get a 12 seed in basketball in 2012.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
