TAMPA, JAN. 28, 2017 – The University of South Florida men’s basketball team will play a ranked opponent for just the second time this season when the Bulls battle No. 19 Cincinnati on the road Sunday afternoon.

Previously, the Bulls hosted No. 16/15 South Carolina, and led at halftime before the Gamecocks pulled away for a 77-66 victory.

USF seeks their first win over a ranked team since unseating No. 19 Louisville 59-51 on the road (2/29/12).

The Bulls clashed with UConn Sunday and held a first half advantage against the Huskies until UConn went on a late run to secure the win. Sophomore guard Troy Holston (Queens, N.Y.) posted a team-high 15 points in the contest. Holston is averaging 15.6 points per game over the last three contests. Freshman guard Michael Bibby (Phoenix) also tallied 14 points following a career-best four treys.

The Opponent

UC enters Sunday's contest on an 11-consecutive win streak. The Bulls look to hand the Bearcats their first home loss of the year (12-0) and first defeat in conference play (7-0).

Cincinnati boasts four players who are pouring in double-figure points per game. Sophomore guard Jacob Evans leads the Bearcats with 14.5 points per game. Junior forward Kyle Washington is second on the team with 13.3 points per game. Washington and junior forward Gary Clark are grabbing a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game.

UC leads USF 29-8 in the all-time series. The Bearcats have won the last six meetings.

Turned on the game for a few minutes and I don't think I've seen a worse D1 basketball team ever...so devoid of talent.  In just 2+ season Orlando Antigua burnt this program to the ground.  What an absolute horrible hire.

I really feel bad for the players.  They seem to be giving their all but it's quite obvious the talent level isn't anywhere near the opposition.  I don't fault Bartow at all for this.  If this was high school, it'd be like coaching a small 1A private school playing in the powerhouse 7A district.
