I don't know how you come to the conclusion that they will bring 25 to 30k.

The Birmingham Bowl supposedly drew a big crowd last year for Auburn v Memphis. But, that's an Alabama team.

Message board fans are generally the most rabid and the ones most likely to travel to a bowl game - even if it's a bad bowl- to their fan base.

At the moment, there are 97 votes in the bowl poll on Cocky Talk. only 12 are going!

And, now that the Vegas line has come out and they are 11 point underdogs, it is more likely that will turn some people of their fans from attending.

I realize the poll is just a small sample, but - to me at least - it is some indication that they won't be turning out in droves to watch their team take a likely beating at what they consider to be a crappy bowl and town.

The one thing in their favor for attending is that they have a much shorter drive getting to the game than do our fans.

It will be interesting to see the actual the breakdown of fans.

Either way, I think we will have a nice size crowd to root on our team.

30k may be high but this is still an sec school who has passionate fans (older) regardless of the record. They will also have graduates all throughout the south who will travel. Finally, in 2010 SC played Uconn in Birmingham and there were over 45k in attendance and no way Uconn brought more than a few thousand. If you are thinking it is going to be 12-15k SC fans there you are going to be wrong.

You make a good point about this being held in SEC territory. I hadn't given that any thought.

As such, I expect may of those in attendance will be general SEC fans rooting on their conference mate in a regional bowl game.

As for USC fans, I cant estimate a number for them. But, from what I have read, so far, there is very little enthusiasm on their part for going to this bowl.
