Loved Chad as a player. Smart & heady. But, I am afraid of inbreeding. Would love to see someone come from "outside" the program, like a Dimel or even a Franks and take an unbiased look at our players and how they relate to our system. And is it the correct system for our players to run to the max efficency.  ::)

Chad's only coming in as a graduate assistant. It's a coup for us to get him here for that job.

WELCOME BACK: Chad Barnhardt, who was USF's starting quarterback during the program's first two seasons in 1997-98, has joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

"I'm real excited about the opportunity," said Barnhardt, who spent the past six years at Lake Wales High, including three as football coach. "It's always been a goal of mine to get back over there, and I think this is a fabulous chance for me."

Barnhardt will likely work with quarterbacks and receivers.

Chad has a long way to go before he's a QB coach, not to mention an offensive coordinator.  Along the same lines a TyBull.  I'd like Chad to move up a couple of spots here.  Go to some other BCS school as an assisstant OC.  Then come back home and finish his career here.

can someone explain exactly what a graduate assistant position is?

is it like an unpaid internship?

if so, why is dimel a graduate assistant ???

my understanding is they are not paid, but receive graduate tuition imbursement and these GA positions almost ALWAYS lead to a full time coaching job somewhere within a year or two
