Playing in a game at all means that he is no longer redshirting for the season, but if he were to be "injured" he could qualify for a medical redshirt.

As BullMSEE stated, he is no longer eligible for a, "normal" redshirt.  He would qualify if he were to get injured before a certain amount of games are played.

The way coach T is recruiting, why redshirt anybody?  Bring in the talent and let them compete.

Exactly. He played a few downs that first year and then was "injured" for the remainder of the season.

He played against UT Martin in the opening game and I think threw a TD pass. Was awesome

It's called a medical waiver if you play less than 30% of the games at the beginning of the season and are injured and out for the remaining portion of the season.
