  1. The problem is that throughout the entire athletics facility, there are tons of people who have been there for 15+years. Thats not 15 succesful years. Its the entire time it took to put the entire program in the toilet. The entire admin needs a washing, excluding softball and WBB. People need to stop saying that Kelly is driving these facilities- its the board and Law working together. Kelly has struck out on scott, and there is no sport better now than when he got here. Its easy for him to claim we need to extend everyone to show stability when he is running a program that has one of the highest budgets among its conference mates, and has been absolutley abysmal in terms of actual on field results. Social media lacks any creativity, the uniforms/promotions are just boring and tired. Excuses abound everywhere because nobody in that building can look at themselves in the mirror and acknowledge they just are not good enough.
  2. Roberts had attitude issues, Sanders did not get a chance here - just casted off. I think the problem is this fan base slamming them for everything. I totally understand GB going down and taking losses if the backup is not as good. The problem that we have as a fanbase is the maniacal anger across the board. Instead of Screaming for CJS the press should be asking him why there is one side, or even more specifically group that has totally failed to progress during his tenure? What is being done to rectify that? Why would a player like Sanders who by all accounts was a good kid and played well here choose to go to NV when he is a "Bay Made" guy? I agree that we are close, and still invested in this program, but it seems like Scott is 3-4 steps behind on personnel decisions- both player personnel and definitely on the coaching personnel side. How can he sell building a culture, if he cant bring in, retain, and develop his players? Making a change at DB coach or even DC during the off week would send a strong message to the team and fans that these results are not USF worthy. Letting this simmer to the offseason will only result in losing talent and fans. I am worried that the Injured players excuse is being accepted way too easily by everyone. The offense has lost a starting OL, their projected top 2 RB, and 2-3 of their top 6 WR's- Trickett and Co has found a way to make it work. The defensive side has injuries and lack of depth up front- but somehow they are not a glaring weakness. The DB's are just bad, and its probably not the players that are bad, they are not being coached up and put in a position to be successful. Scott's patience with these coaches- Shoop (DC and Safties) and Barlow (CB for past two seasons) will kill this programs potential and all progress he has made.
  3. The offense has been hiding the defensive issues. Once GB was injured, the D was exposed again. Its clear to see that Scott has increased the talent on both sides of the ball, but his DB's are going to get him fired if he does not address. The D line is now getting pressure, and it seems like the LB's are decent to good when we get Gordon and Grier back. But the fact that there is maybe one serviceable DB on this team is extremely bad. Especially when Nick Roberts and Bentlee Sanders are at other D1 programs and are very successful. Sanders Leads D1 in interceptions. Why is this staff not being held accountable for this talent going to lesser programs and being better than what is on the roster?
  4. It's not the players that are recruited. We have d castoffs that are playing well elsewhere. The defensive staff, particularly shoop and the db coach can not coach. On the other side of the ball, Trickett can put up points EVEN WHILE dealing with injuries and recievers who are having issues with drops. He has figured out how to use motion, get guys in space and open up the running game. Players are developing and improving on offense. It's a stark contrast from 2019 and 20 where we couldn't buy points. Our secondary is just flat out bad. How many drops did Tulane Wr's have last week? At least 4. How many times do we see DB's attacking and breaking up passes? Never. Every opposing qb is completing 65-75% of passes against us. This staff has a ton of DB's and can not get more than one to be serviceable. Even worse, it seems like the DB's we get to come in via transfer regress over their time here. On top of this we still have DB's getting burnt downfield. May as well play to defend short medium passes and take your chances with a lower percentage completion downfield. Not sure why we don't see shoop gone, and have Sims and Daprato share DC duties to close out the year. It can not get worse than it already is.
  5. Gotta say, its not the players. Shoop cant coach. Scott is soft, this team takes on the jeff scott aww shucks mentality. Kelly hired Scott. Scott botched his coordinator hires. If kelly cant clean this mess up, sweep him out with the rest of the garbage. The OCS is all weatherford and law. Kelly is just the athletics face. Clean house and hire Derrick Brooks to replace Kelly, he can be the bew version of LRS. The excuses have to stop. This team needs to harden up.
  6. Bohannon should be completing 62%+ of his passes. I really think that these 4 pre conference games were needed to get him on the same page with the WR group. Probably will see some more issues on sat, but I really believe he will find what works and who works by Oct 1st. Seeing him run has cemented my opinion that the choice to go with him over TM was right. We went to the game, the poise GB showed was great. He has to clean up his accuracy, but he finishes his runs like a power RB.
  7. To think that by Oct 1, or at latest the 8th at Cincinatti, we will have Joiner back, Horn should be healthy- two huge weapons on offense that will help spread the field out for the passing game to improve. If this team can continue their trajectory AAC play will be a fun time.
  8. The fact that he went with battie has me sold. In the past they would roll with mangham just based on liking him. Theybput their best guys out there. Thwy did this without their 3rd best offensive player - horn was out there but he has to be hurt. He would have made a difference in the running and passing game. Bohannon has poise but has to work on not locking on a wr, and also he is missing his guys high. If they play well a next week, the BYU game looks as if it may have been a combo of jitters, and figuring out who are practice all Americans and who are actually gamers. The 2nd half defense may have been this teams "syracuse" moment. It seemed like something definitely clicked for this team out there today.
  9. Same here- Tried watching FSU/LSU and it just made me think about the gap that this program faces. But then I think about how the rival team up the road dealt with multiple 0 win seasons only to come back stronger, and feel a bit better because it is possible to come back from terribleness- we just need the right hires. At least we will know by mid October one way or the other if we have the right people in place to turn this thing around. I feel like the fan base needs to sit tight until then- if this team looks like they did Saturday on Oct 15th against Tulane, then by all means go into full revolt.
  10. Its not a good look on the parents to be on twitter airing complaints after the first game. At the end of the day, these kids are 17-22 years old, an age where being measured and composed after emotional events is not possible. Going on to twitter after the game to let angry fans know that these kids said was just irresponsible and did nothing to help. If anything the "twitter herd" set themselves back with what went on in that group chat- I think the leaders solution was to call up the Coastal Carolina or App State coach and ask them to take USF job. This was just a bunch of sad fans who needed to vent. Do these people really think that somewhere out there Rhea Law is listening to the twitter space, and considering firing VPMK or CJS? You want to have a successful program? Then stop acting like a bunch of middle school kids who need to vent and cry when things don't go your way. Former players on twitter talking smack also shouldn't get much attention- especially when they came from a USF group that was way more broken than this one. At this point, the best thing to do is to support the team. It was one terrible game. Yes the staff should be held accountable. Players too. But it was one game. The game was over after the reversed replay TD call. Any results after that should have been viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Suck it up, support the team, and try to affect change at the end of the year- Nobody is asking for a Jeff Scott fan club. This is the team we have for this year- we are fans its our job to Support them, if we are looking for in season firings go find a P5 team or NFL team to support. It aint happening here for the foreseeable future. Totally disappointed in this fan base. This loss is not as bad as McNeese State, its not even as bad as getting the doors blown off at Tulane last year. I get that we all were hyped up by this admin this offseason, and really the past three years, but going off the deep end like these people are doing is pretty extreme.
  11. My young kids and I stayed until the end of the game hoping for the "Syracuse moment". Seems like Trickett shut it down the last 2 drives of the game. The circumstances of this game have allowed me to stay somewhat positive for another week, my wife and I will be on vacation for the Howard game, so my 8 year old son will be giving me updates. This game needs to be 40+ to 17 or less or else this team is in trouble. Again, looking back- you had the jet sweep TD, the pick 6, and the blown coverage TD all in the first 6 minutes of this game. Hard to keep composed with that happening- in the past we would have seen a penalty fest ensue- these kids stayed disciplined and tried their best to recover. Have to hope that this game did not break them mentally. But I will die on this hill, any USF offense that does not feature at least 2-3 Jet sweeps and 2-3 bubble screens a game will not be successful here. UCF built their entire success on fast plays and players. You can beat a better team using speed. This school is not going to get a bunch of huge, physical, technically sound guys- so they need to literally run other teams off of the field. CJS has been resistant to do this with his hires, and here we are. Michael Kelly is doing huge things on the administration side, but his biggest failure has been not realizing where we are and how we need to play in order to win. With all this talk about being in alignment- he is not aligning his football hires with this in mind.
  12. I like the positivity. Ive been fooled many times by this team so I am jaded. After reflecting on this: I think what makes this loss so bad is that this year there are players. In the past there has been a severe lack of talent. This year we returned almost everyone- and look worse for it. Khafre Brown and Jimmy Horn are blazing fast, yet we got to see BYU torch us for a jet screen- something this offense should be able to do. My fear is we have another oc out here running plays that only work when you have a top 10 offensive line. You say the run game was shut down? ********. Why was no attempt made to run outside creatively? The one time they did that battie had open field and ran in for a TD. On defense, we got caught with our pants down. Either that gets fixed at the UF game, or its a long season. Tackling is still a huge issue. Adrenaline is a hell of a thing and its totally possible this team was amped and that delay just did them in. Positives? Tramell Logan played great on the edge and was active all night. The d line was not as terrible as they have been in the past. Weaver is still good, but dropped a TD pass. Jimmy Horn is a beast but totally under utilized. Student section showed up, CJS should be begging them for another chance to come back. More usf fans than byu fans, but I must say the die hard older guys who are always positive left shaking their heads after the third score- cant lose those loyal guys. Next three weeks will make or break this program for the next 3 years. If they look this inept again, its going to be a real long term problem.
  13. I have to say its not the DL, its not the OL, not the secondary that is bad. Its the fact that on defense the calls were coming in right as BYU was snapping the ball. That is on the DC. And Scott hired the DC, this is on him. the offense was not creative at all. There was no use of our speed. Running plays were bland. Bohannon missed 4-5 wide open throws, he didnt see 4-5 other guys who were wide open. This staff put their money on GB and right now, that looks like a bad bet. Someone in this thread said these things are correctable- and maybe they would be for another staff. This staff had the same correctable issues last year and it took until the ucf game to try to fix. Outside of Da Prato, Simms, and Mogridge, this staff is not good. The new hires have just laid a big fat turd at raymond james stadium. This is on CJS. I am sure we will hear about injuries in the next few days, but until there is some serious self reflection by the coaching staff, its going to be a long year. These players are good enough to win. This staff is not good enough to win.
  14. Not a drop here in Clearwater. Hopefully rain goes south and we just get cloudy hot humid nastiness.
  15. If we do I think its going to be Ray Thornton or DJ Gordon that brings them out.
  16. If this happens, we could see the AAC become like the mid majors in basketball. A program like Gonzaga or Villanova in Basketball is 20x smaller than Kansas, Bama, etc. but pulls in players because they know they will have a line to the postseason and the exposure that it brings. Selling USF to a local kid over Mid to low level Big 10 or SEC schools becomes a lot easier when you have the facilities and an easier path to the postseason every year. Realistically a player could get more national exposure in an extended playoff scenario with a G5 school than he would playing at the Vandy's/Minnesota/Missouri's out there.
  17. I think that is an attitude that has to be brought out. If they can get out there, and one guy drops a huge hit it could be contagious. The last time I saw anything remotely close to that attitude was Vincent Davis against UMass. Laid a guy right out on kick return and took the fumble 10 yards for a TD. Drop a guy like that in the beginning of this game will bring out a nasty side of the defense. The past years they have played too timid to impose any fear in teams.
  18. This year basically comes down to how much of an improvement Shoop can make, and how much better can GB be than Timmy. If Shoop improves to get the defense top 80 and GB is marginally better than Timmy, USF wins 6+ games this year.
  19. Oh I am saying I don't believe him. There is video of her serving, two of her teammates near her stopping and painting into the crowd. And multiple Duke players complained, not just the one in question. This is the issue with BYU. Stop trying to defend the indefensible.
  20. I think Bohannon will surprise us with 2500+ yards passing this year. I am willing to bet that we will see more 2 RB backfields and a lot more passes to them. That will help bump up the stats. Expecting a big year from Bullspen RB Battie this year!!!
  21. I think if CJS is going to be successful here, it may be. His reputation is a WR developer- Renfroe, Martin, etc from Clemson. Aside from Weaver and Horn, we have a bunch of guys with unrealized potential. If he can develop one of these guys into a breakout season he can use that to bring in more higher end WR talent. If that happens, finding higher end QB talent will be easier because they will want to throw to the WR talent that is there. In the transfer portal era, we are seriously at risk of losing good players due to lack of stats. If we see Weaver and Horn get 4-500 yards this year each, but have the talent to put up 800-1k somewhere else, there is a real risk of them leaving in order to put up stats and get drafted. WR, RB, and QB all will be areas where we are at risk of this happening. The incentive for a Weaver, Horn, Battie, etc to stay is that they will be able to put up the numbers to get noticed and have a realistic shot at being drafted. Look at what strong did to D'ernest Johnson- if used the way he should have been, Johnson would have put up the numbers and most likely been a round 4+ draftee. Instead he had to go RFA, and sit for 2+ years before getting his shot.
  22. I just completed this quiz. My Score 26/100 My Time 109 seconds
  23. If I remember correctly there were a lot of BYU fans in attendance back in 2019. I think we get them back again and hit 34k announced. Surprise of the day will be a pretty full student section- I feel like there may be some progress getting students buy in this year.
  24. Just objectively looking at the freshman qb who played at UCF last season, he was better than Timmy. Is Timmy betting the backup does not develop?
