  1. Rumors that ECU is next depending on how many ACC takes. Not even kidding
  2. I enjoy seeing his enthusiasm before games getting the guys worked up but want to see what he can contribute. The original word was halfway through the OOC schedule, which we are approaching. It appears we are pretty deep at the 2 but can always use more toughness and defense. Itd be nice to notch a win against a SEC opponent and shoot for an upset in Oklahoma, all hands on deck!!
  3. I think UL would be the more aggressive move for the ACC as UConn is not going anywhere except to ACC eventually anyway. i doubt BC has interest in the former rivalry and sharing recruiting territory in conference in southern new England. UL is a good fit in more than one conference so why not shore up the ACC with a move inland just as the BIG 10 is moving into the coastal market?
  4. My dad, a college coach, was never so blind regarding my abilities or lack thereof. Sure, but was he on national TV? I doubt Lou Holtz believes what he's spewing...and I can bet you that they probably had a long talk about Skip's inability to coach a BCS team over Thanksgiving dinner. Honestly, Skip is probably regretting leaving ECU right now. He had it good there. He's not cut out for this level of competition. He needs to go back to coaching mid-majors, since he's done that well. By the time holtz's contract is up we will likely end up being a mid major again from the way things seem to be shaping up. All he needs to do is tread water the next year or two assuming USF does not let him go and we will end up with ECU as a peer institution.
  5. Not one comment there that suggests we won't be on the outside looking in
  6. This looked like a different Bulls team than the one that got beat by UCF. They ran the break, 7 or 8 dunks. Rudd got it going as did Noriega and a real solid effort from Kore White. Guys got banged up In this one. Brock turned an ankle and DeLay ended up with bandages on his head. Lots of solid PT for everyone. Jordan better defined his role on this team, 6 pts 6 Rebs.
  7. When any game can be had on Stubhub for less than $5. They need to keep milking to get the dough needed to buy out the doughboy.
  8. As of today, the conference has only officially lost Rutgers. While surprising, it doesnt hurt. Its the next move thats going to matter most as the Louisville/UCONN 'winner' to the ACC will better define our opportunities going forward. We need to hope its UCONN (as the ACC is the only place they are going to get offered) and we can somehow tie ourselves to Louisville who will be aggressive as ever to move next. I dont think Cincy and Louisville is a great a package on the TV and demographic front where it appears decisions are being made.
  9. This is going to be a transition year in BB. Be realistic and set a floor at no lower than .500 ball for the season to hold us over until the big recruit class comes in. Why? Consider: -We lost the team's defensive identity. Anderson, Robertson, Gilchrist -We didnt add any valuable size in their place, Austin gone. -Big East schedule is much harder than last year -We are sneaking up on no one this year. We won two NCAA conference games last year and people know USF now for the tough D. -It looks like it will take this 'new look' Bull team to gel. Losing against very beatable non-conference teams. We need to run up the wins against these teams, not seeing thats going to happen.. Wait until we get Georgia, Ok St and our Big East schedule. If a Fitz or Collins can grow into the type of player to put a team on their back, maybe this will change. But in the meantime, a 20 win season seems like a stretch-
  10. Is it just how bad the season is currently going for West Virginia that brings this or is this a regret thats been stirring longer? Do you miss Big East yet? MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University's football fortunes obviously are becoming worse by the day - not just week. What second-year head coach Dana Holgorsen now is calling errors and "junior high mistakes" cost the Mountaineers (5-4, 2-4) last Saturday's 55-34 beating at Oklahoma State. So their losing streak has reached four games, the most since 2001, and after a sparkling 5-0 season's start and 2-0 beginning as a member of the Big 12 Conference. It has come down to the players hoping and praying for bowl eligibility. And they surely need a sixth victory for that. That's a most unusual situation for a football program that has been thriving for many years. Considering that millions of dollars in coaching salaries and the extra millions spent on travel to Big 12 road games, the thought herein is that it's not worth all the big bucks. I know it's trite to say that the tail is wagging the dog, but I know numerous WVU alumni firmly think that it is. My thinking has been that West Virginia should have done a better job of recruiting before joining the Big 12 Conference. That is, if the powers-that-be really made the right decision. I have always been a guy who liked WVU being "a big fish in a small pond" such as the Big East Conference. I felt it certainly was more fitting to WVU's Eastern ties. But selected others obviously did not. So the university dished out $20 million to get out of the league. To be honest, I was shocked. But big, big money talks. And the Big 12 reportedly needed a 10th member by June 30 for TV dealings in long-term contracts. There are some who think the Mountaineers could have dominated the Big East and be 9-0 today - not 5-4. And that senior quarterback Geno Smith would still be a strong candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Versatile Tavon Austin, also a senior, and Stedman Bailey, a junior wide receiver, also would have benefited as a year ago. However, Holgorsen has said he wasn't interested in talking about individuals - only about the team in general. Holgorsen has admitted at times after a loss that the WVU coaches were outcoached. Perhaps that's an area that should be restructured at season's end. Who knows how any coach has performed? "You have some ideas? I'm all ears," Holgorsen told reporters after the OSU defeat. (One writer suggested he was joking.) "You can't make very simple, junior high mistakes and beat a good team," the head coach said. There are growing problems to fix with just three games left. One comment: You think this is bad, then just wait until baseball season. My prediction is that we'll get beat by an average of 15 runs/game. We probably should have stayed where we were competitive. As long as the kid don't get discourage, then who really cares though.
  11. That is very aggravating, I found it makes more sense to enter and exit on the third level. And I still couldnt find the beer concession from 202 first row above the arena level
  12. Props to this kid. The only player I saw out there living up to last year's defensive effort on Saturday night. The only guy reminding me of 2011. The rim rejection was not a good moment but so many of the new players had no energy. Fitz had his good moments too. Iam concerned that the move to a more up tempoed offense (which didnt happen, we got out fastbreaked all night) is a reflection of the loss of guys like Anderson. I dont see the bodies we would need to D up like we did last year, which will force us to be more competitive on offense. Problem is that our offense DID look like 2011. I have confidence we will improve but wont expect a season like last year unless we discover one or two consistent shot makers.
  13. Yes I was surrounded by bags tonight. They all moved down from the cheap seats and acted like they've never been out of the house before. The downside of sucking is that it brings out all the bags and gives them plenty of open seats to move down into.
  14. They will do 20k or better. It's beautiful out today, an evening game, gator game is off the board by 3pm. I'm bringing a couple extra people for those reasons alone.
  15. Where does this confidence come from? Havent we recently suffered injuries to some of the few significant contributors this season? Aside from Saturday the schedule does not favor a winning streak or bowl game in any possible way. Even Pitt, who started slow this year has gotten it in gear. What was the result of 'putting everything on the table' for changes? Im rooting for this team, but never have I seen such empty, ambiguous rhetoric.
  16. You know it's bad when predicting a single interception for your defense bring out accusations of hitting the pipe. I'll revisit this on Sunday right or wrong
  17. Ive been to every game this year and yes I was watching. It's ludicrous to see that we havent had a pick, soft defense and all. However, I would like something to cheer on at the games rather than hoping we lose, play terribly so jolts can get canned. Uconns QB is a perfect opportunity to break one of these $hitty streaks we are on.
  18. From the Hartford Courant: Only three quarterbacks in Division I-A — Garrett Gilbert of SMU and Dominique Blackman of Idaho and Akron's Dalton Williams (12) — have more interceptions than Whitmer (UCONNs QB - 11 ints in 8 games). South Florida is the only Division I-A team without an interception. I say we get one this week.
  19. Opening at ECU? Is their coach losing with Skip's guys? Never mind they have 200 percent more wins than us.
  20. Didn't hear it. Someone please tell me one positive thing you heard to give us hope going forward. Even if he can't produce wins he could blow some sunshine, right?
  21. My only issue is so yeah, lets say he fires Cosh. Whoopdee f*ckin do. He's got a scapegoat and gets a clean slate. The problems run so much deeper than that. It will buy him time but who has confidence in his ability hire somebody and right this ship? He's in over his head.
  22. The problem is they came out of the half asleep. Syracuse came out juiced. You'd think with all of the close losses they would want to come out with some fire and keep that lead. It was gone before you knew what hit us. Ill say the coaches are responsible but the players look so indifferent, win or lose, good or bad. Are they just a bad group or does that mentality come from the coach. Probably a bit of both. Bigger problem is that even though the seniors move on, our juniors and underclassmen now have this impression of college football and I don't see how the culture gets changed by only firing a DC.
  23. USF is in a bad spot now. He has to go, the longer USF waits the more chances for a win here or there to extend the inevitable. That will extend this terrible situation we are in. He has no future here. No coach can come back from how last year ended and this year has gone and lead a successful program. I hope they are lining up candidates for years end. Even if USF won out from here, they have to commit to the idea of firing him and follow through.
  24. Yeah 5 yards of room for the receiver from the 1 yard line. Brilliant. Thanks for wiping away any guilt I had for leaving at the start of the fourth. That last score would have happened right in my face. Good lord.
