  1. Thanks for sharing. I dont think we need to hurry, rather be right than quick. However, the longer this goes on the more likely we end up with someone off the radar which will send this place into riots.
  2. I believe its already been established he forfeits whatever is left of the payout if he returns to coaching in NCAA. This is why it was speculated he was in no hurry and would not take just any job. That said, I dont think he's coming here anyway.
  3. Some need to get off their high horse about whether he's 'ready' for what amounts to a CUSA v2 job. If you look at the pecking order he came into one of the bottom 10 programs and done what he needs to demonstrate hes ready to move up. We should feel fortunate we appear to have a home field advantage in getting him. Now if we land someone better, that's great. But it really hit me looking at the TV contract thread just how bad our conference is about to become and we may have our faces pressed up against the glass of the big boy table for a long time.
  4. From the article. Under its current deal, Big East schools are earning $4 million per year in primary rights fees. In comparison, the Pac-12 is splitting approximately $250 million per year among its 12 institutions. Everyone else's TV deals signed recently have skyrocketed. We are status quo. No new TV money will hinder the development of USF athletic programs.
  5. Anyone know if Skip gets another top coaching gig in NCAA if we get out of some of that buyout?
  6. $4 million-$5.3 million per year. LMAO, so the BEC was pursuing 10-15 million a year and now this? Why add teams that just dilute the payouts. Did the BEC really need to add Tulane and ECU? Less dough to go around and little or no value added.
  7. If we had a actual center how would this game have been different? Nash did little and smart got his but zurich killed us. ****
  8. Their scorers don't always show up, too. See the Tennessee game. True and let's hope we score 37 to their 36 but when we take the air out of the ball we tend to have terrible offense against the Tennessees and Texas type teams. It's the boards tonight, again.
  9. Don't know if anyone saw the Georgetown game last night. They did what we are trying to do. Play physical, slow it down. Impose the tempo. Now we have slowed it down, unfortunately gtown has scorers we don't. There should be more plays to get Rudd a shot.
  10. If that's what you think of Taggart, then you're name fits perfectly. Zinger. I know facts. Facts are he is 16-20 and has a butt load of 2 star recruits. But you... you get high on conjecture. It's the Sun Belt. They were on a 26 game losing streak before he got there and have won 14 games the past 2 years. You obviously don't know your facts too well... But they didn't recruit 4 and 5 star players and go 12-0. Pass We can do better
  11. As long as we pass on Coach Dooshwater
  12. Taggart has been getting all the pub lately so maybe thats what hes talking about. OP just wants who he wants, with no rationale to back it up.
  13. Pretty sure the game that was just played was the first time we played them since 2009. All time series record is decidedly in USF's favor. They beat us in 2010. UCF 65, USF 59 Its taken USF many years to scrape itself off the floor of the BEC in basketball. The growth from that type of adversity wont be reflected in two head to head matchups, sorry. UCF gets a pass in football, frankly because the BEC just isnt and hasnt been that great. But basketball? I dont believe once UCF starts playing a Big East conference schedule (assuming the UCONNs, Cincy and others remain) there will be a whole lot for Knights fans to cheer about. USF has a better basketball program because of its coach, ability to recruit off the BE name and its years of BE beatdowns.
  14. Or UCF NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!........................ It's hard not to make a good case for them at this point: Larger student body than USF. On-campus stadium/better gameday environment than USF. No BCS experience but more successful in CUSA than USF when it moved to a BCS conference. Arugably better location for road trips than USF. Stable coaching situation. Better basketball. Competitive academically to USF. trololololol
  15. I don't think I agree with that line of thinking. The Big East was a stepping stone conference before, and its still a stepping stone conference. Except now, if you believe yourself to be a good coach, its that much more likely that you can be highly successful (and quickly) at a place like USF. To me (as Athlon apparently sees it too), for an up and comer, its probably better to go to a program like USF where the competition isn't so daunting, then take a job like Purdue, Colorado, Kentucky, etc.... where you are up against programs with more money, more history, more resources and have a large head jump on you in the talent department. Take the Colorado job (where you have to pull good recruits from out of state in Cali), and you have to dig yourself out of a canyon to be successful. Take the USF job, and your likely just digging yourself out of a small ditch. Where would you rather go if your goal 5 years from now is to be coaching in the SEC or B1G or Texas, USC, etc.....? EXACTLY. 100% agree. Spend a few years in Tampa picking USF up off the mat. Everything you need to do so is here. Play in an NFL stadium, pick from richest of recruiting grounds. Leave with those connections.
  16. urban meyer was never a coordinator. he went from wr coach to head coach OK...well the only point he was trying to make is that if we don't start spending money on coordinators there is a chance Taggart might not be the best choice. I thought the point he was making was that Taggart hasn't really been in the coaching ranks that long and may not have enough really good contacts to upgrade the coordinators he already has ... sometimes that can be a positive. I'm not so sure Holtz connection to Cosh benefitted us all that much. same with Fitch.the reason tubberville got fired from auburn was because he was so loyal to his assistants . maybe a young guy with a fresh start can build better. Skip hiring Cosh was pretty much his death knell. Not sure how he thought hiring a bad DC from a bad defense conference was a good idea especially considering he was probably days from being fired. so he went for a field goal instead of going for it on 4th and 2 in the red zone? Well, Skip made a lot of highly questionable decisions, but I think had he hired a competent DC, he'd have at least gone 7-5 and made a bowl game. He'd have been here another year or two. If the DC was/would have been responsible for more than twice as many wins as we ended up with SH should have never been hired in the first place.
  17. Ok St gets a ton of production from it's backcourt. They are 6'7" and 6'4". Marcus Smart was the best HS player to come out of TX last year and has some impressive numbers in his freshman year. This will be a tough place to play but we can win. Keep the game at our pace and win the battles up front.
  18. Disagree... I think the Sugar and Fiesta Bowls will be competitive and good games. Don't see it. Louisville is a 17 point dog to a UF team that couldn't score up until last weekend. Like the K St defense vs the Oregon offense matchup
  19. Only problem is we are USF, not UF. UF doesn't recruit, they select or so the saying goes. Be very wary of someone coming from UF, by DEFAULT they get the cream of the crop even with Larry Curly and Moe recruiting.
  20. Discover BCS National Championship Notre Dame (12-0) vs. Alabama (12-1) Allstate Sugar Bowl Florida (11-1) vs. Louisville (10-2) Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Kansas St. (11-1) vs. Oregon (11-1) Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio Stanford (11-2) vs. Wisconsin (8-5) Discover Orange Bowl N. Illinois (12-1) vs. Florida St. (11-2) Not too much to get excited about this bowl season. Nothing for USF and I think Louisville gets beaten badly.
  21. I think the other thread on Taggart sums up his strengths well. He is recruiting central to southwest Florida and bringing those kids to the former worst program in FBS, and having success. With all the talent there, USF needs to claim that region as 'ours'. If he helps us lock down a lot of the high level recruits in that area and grabs a good in game OC/DC then we are set. This is about winning and building a program. Highest upside of any of the coaches.
