  1. Kind of agree on Atterbury. Nice to have him for depth because he's definitely serviceable. Kind of wonder if he would be better at guard. His knock seems to be slow feet which usually ends in a move inside. Count me in the group shocked Watts didn't crack the 2 deep.
  2. Strong isn't handing the defense over to anyone. The offense is Coach Gilberts responsibility. The defense wasn't great, but there's some teams that can flat out score in the Big 12. Plus they were fairly young. There aren't many truly dominant defenses in college football. You can probably count them on 1 hand. The difference in being good enough and not good enough can come down to 10 points a game.
  3. We are talking about the Silent Generation demo here. Not necessarily your prototypical fan in today's era.
  4. Fair enough. Yes, the program changed quite a bit throughout those years. My grandfather attended games in the 80's but would never go in the late 90's / early 2000's because it was too rowdy. It was a true college football experience. Perfect example that you can have a great atmosphere without an OCS during those special seasons. However, I'm of the belief that you will find much more consistency with an OCS. Keep in mind, even when Miami was packing the place, a vast majority of those fans weren't Alums and rarely had any direct association with the University.
  5. I was there in '02 when they were averaging close to 70k per game. I'm referring to the stretch from 2000-2004.
  6. What has USF done to show a long-term commitment to growing the program? At the very least, building an IPF and OCS will show that we are not content with where we are and will continue to be a thorn in the side of the P5. We are in the "elite" of the AAC in terms of programs. The vision should be how to get out of the AAC, not what is everyone else doing internally. That type of complacency is why we don't have the facilities that c-UsaCF has.
  7. The Orange Bowl was one of, if not the best atmosphere in college football at the time. We shouldn't compare ourselves to the rest of the AAC. That's how you get stuck in G5 purgatory.
  8. I understand that it is difficult to run the table, no matter the conference. Especially when you're predicting something that a program has never done before. With that being said, I'm predicting 12-0. This is why. Not only is our schedule weak compared to most P5 schools, it is set up absolutely perfect given the situation. This team will make mistakes early. It is to be expected with the new systems, new leadership etc. However we get 2 weeks to iron those things out before our first real road test. I get that Uconn plays us tough, but I'd much rather go up there Week 3 than say @ECU or @ Tulane. They too have a new coach and lost key players. By the time Illinois shows up to Tampa, this team will have things rolling. We have all the "toss up" games at home. No weeknight road games that has every fan base worried about. Another thing I think gets overlooked when browsing the schedule is the Bye week before Tulsa. That team can play and score in a hurry. A late season bye week like that can make all the difference before playing an uptempo, tough offense like Tulsa.
  9. Gotta think Coach Strong and Mr.Woodie have very different classifications of "bad tackling." I like the fact that he's speaking the truth publicly unlike CWT and Woodie.
  10. My guess is the 3 WRs were nicked up and/or sore and wasn't worth pushing it with 3 weeks to go. Good opportunity for the other guys. Sounds like Fullwood has a sprained ankle. CCS didn't seem too worried. Next man up.
  11. Making room doesn't necessarily mean pulling their schollie. It can be as simple as saying, "this is a commitable offer contingent on you enrolling early." Simple as that. We don't have all the information necessary to judge those type of decisions.
  12. I'll go a different route. We all know the talent on this roster. The thing that sticks out to me the most is the brotherhood mentality that has remained after losing xCWT, RA and MM.
  13. There is a lot of truth to this. However, Taggart never had the momentum behind him during his recruiting cycles that CCS does currently. We are positioned as the top G5 program in the country as well as being ranked preseason top 25. Combine that with the attention QF has sparked and having 3 players drafted in the off season. CCS is in a much better position than xCWT ever was. Not to mention the reputation and track record of xCWT during his tenure verse what CCS has accomplished. Point being, I don't think it is fair to either coach to compare the situations as if they were carbon copies. I'm not saying you will see an influx of 4 star prospects in this recruiting cycle, however if it were ever to happen this is our best shot to date.
  14. A lot of those were in non-traditional formations where the WR's were all bunched outside. I'm not saying he should never line up outside, but I think his potential is maximized in the slot.
  15. I think this is accurate. The interesting thing is WR. We are deep so there's multiple combinations that could work. I would rather have McCants in the slot personally and let Bronson/Dukes get the reps outside. Hopefully Bronson can develop even more this year to give us that speed threat to stretch the field. WR MVS/Salomon/Dingle WR Bronson/Dukes/Alaka Slot McCants/Antoine/Barr Its going to be interesting to see how they structure this defense. I know there's a lot of talk about the 3-3-5 being similar to the 4-2-5, but we don't have that traditional stand up end that can also drop in coverage. Maybe Vincent Jackson. I'd like to see them take a DL off the field and get Jaymon or Watts in there on passing downs.
  16. He may have had fumbling issues however he's still a really good TE. He can block, make contested catches and while not a blazer, is pretty decent after the catch. Keep in mind, Kano is already generating some NFL buzz throughout the industry and Mitchell started over him. TE might be our most underrated position group. As far as returns go, I agree with everyone here. Barr, Antoine, McCants and Smart should all get a shot to prove themselves.
  17. Armstead will be back as will Sharga. They also have an impressive WR core. However, they will have a new QB. I'm sure they will play us tough, but Id imagine that game is circled on the schedule for quite a few of the returning starters.
  18. Agreed. With the worst part being it wasn't due to physical limitations or just not being good enough. They just didn't make the mental adjustments

  20. While this is true, our Ace basically threw a bullpen today. He can go tomorrow or Monday
  21. Bullpen game Vs Bethune Cookman. Trust your bats. Peter game 1 and Shane if we can win that one.
  22. Yes, it was hit slow. That's why I said it's a do or die play. But I disagree that taking the sure out is the correct play when it comes at the cost of giving up another run in this situation.
  23. You can get the out at 2nd with a good turn. It's whether or not it's going to be on target. That knock is exactly why you take the chance. Not a time to take the "sure out"
  24. Only good thing about this innings, Byrnes has been sitting for a looongg time
