  1. That’s exactly what I said... Formation doesn’t fix the LBs over running & getting washed out of gaps however. Boyles will be playing all year
  2. We were running Nickel (Base) against their 2 TE sets. You won’t see that again (hopefully). With that said, the front 7 was disappointing. There was a play where Nico completely overran his gap, leaving a huge hole and 1 on 1 with the Safety. Just can’t have that.
  3. 1) South Florida 2) 35-7 3) Elijah Mack 4) Darnell Salomon 5) 476
  4. I don’t see Cronk being MM level. The breakaway speed MM had was special. You’ll see it on full display this year in Indy. I truly think we have a slightly better version of DJ/Tice with Cronk/Mack, with Bell being the X Factor. For as much speed as we have on defense, there isn’t a home run threat (outside of Bronson) speedwise on this offense. With MM & RA, defenses had to play off RA while stacking the box for MM & QF. We don’t have that currently.
  5. So based on rough #’s, we have 16k season ticket holders. If each account has an avg of 2 persons, there’s roughly 8k season ticket accounts. That would equal roughly 16k total comp tickets available? If we can get even 8-10k in that stadium, that would be a heck of a bump in attendance and a solid atmosphere. Let’s get it done
  6. These are my thoughts as well. I think we can all agree, CCS is going to give the nod to the sure handed, consistent player over someone with a higher ceiling/lower floor.
  7. I think there will be a lot of touch backs this year with the new fair catch rule. I’d like to see Bell or Ford back there personally.
  8. Saquon Barkley returned kicks for Penn State last year
  9. The best defense against a power run offense is a high scoring offense. We will be fine against the likes of Ga Tech & Temple if we play each offensive drive aggressively. If we slow down the tempo and try and ground and pound with them, we will be in trouble... See Houston/Stony Brook/Tulsa , 2017
  10. There’s likely a lot of Week 1 politics/motivation going on with this depth chart. I remember seeing similar things last year
  11. Wonder what’s going on with Naytron & Donelle Thomas. No mention of them anywhere.
  12. I must say, CCS seems to have a little more pep in his step this year compared to last. Seems loose and comfortable
  13. Cronkrite reminds me of DJ 2.0. Slashy, one cut runner who can make guys miss in tight areas, but lack the true homerun speed. Factor in their pass catching abilities and they are almost clones. Sands hasn’t impressed me in his limited action. He doesn’t have a ton of wiggle and seems to be a hit the gap, lower your head and get your 3-4 type runner. That’s fine in this offense, but I’d rather have Mack do the same thing with more upside. Really interested to see what Bell can do. I’d love to see him returning kicks at some point this season.
  14. Awesome partnership! Get those tickets in the hands of friends/family ladies and gents!
  15. From what I can tell - Offense: Mayes & Norman seem the most vocal. I’m sure Cronk is the leader in the RB room and Bronson in the WR room Defense: Hoggins, Livingstone & Nico
  16. The defense is down right nasty, causing more pressures and turnovers than last year. USF ends the season on a strong (no pun intended) note with a near shut out against UCF. We look at the 2019 season through the same lense that we did pre - 2017.
  17. I mentioned this before, but there’s some film online of B.B. playing QB if anyone is interested. The 2016 Bama spring game has some good film on him, just have to fast forward to the parts where he is playing. Some good reps in there for anyone interested.
  18. While I understand that’s a first impression, check out the throw he made against SC in the bowl game on the fake XP. Rolling to his right, fit it between two defenders. On the temple play, it was also said that the WR ran the wrong route. So there’s that
  19. Just my 2 cents, but I think he’s likely slightly behind in learning the system. It’s one thing if BK and CO were scrubs. You have at worst, two average QBs who understand the system vs a QB that can make every throw in the book but is still trying to fully understand the system and execute at game speed. He could be lighting the world on fire and making tight window throws, but if Gilbert has to limit his playbook, is that worth it? If not, now you’re back to square one choosing between BK & CO.
  20. I really appreciate everyone’s insight regarding generator/power sources. For the time being, I’m going to go with the Marine Batter/Invertor set up and look into upgrading to a Honda/WEN down the road. 10 days away ladies and gents!
  21. Fair assessment there. I think the athletic ability that McGee provides in the middle will actually help the starting unit of LBs be more impactful than last year. Don’t get me wrong, the ability to tackle consistently is a value that is hard to replace. I genuinely appreciate everything Auggie contributed to this program. With that being said, I like the starting line up with McGee in there and KJ flashed some potential last season in his limited role. As you mentioned, this is a boom or bust unit due to depth. We really need this group to stay healthy for this defense to excel.
