  1. Thank you for saying in one post, what I was trying to say over about 10 lol
  2. Fair enough. Just to be clear, I’m certainly not under the impression that life in the G5 is roses and daisies. You probably have that presumption due to my stance, similar to me having the presumption of you being negative due to yours. Heres my final point. It is extremely hard to make the playoffs for any program. See Michigan, Texas, USC, UF, etc etc. You have to have a legitimate top 4-8 team in the country as a prerequisite. I’m not even arguing whether or not that we can field that type of talent. My point is that being from the G5, if you have that type of talent and you schedule the right opponents, you have a shot. Is it the same chance Auburn, Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc have? Heck no. We all know why. And to be honest, they probably deserve the nod due to recent track record. With that being said, I will always argue in favor of USF & Mickey Mouse U because it is possible, and anyone saying it’s impossible has watched too much ESPN and not thought for themselves. Of course, this debate has zero bearing on anything real, but I appreciate the conversation nonetheless. Have a great rest of your day
  3. The fact it hasn’t happened is because there hasnt been a team good enough with the schedule to boot. UCF had the team but not the schedule to warrant a playoff spot. Houston in 2016 I believe had the schedule, but they go and lose to Navy. Houston was ranked #6 after their win against OU with a game against the Lamar Jackson lead Cards (which they beat) later in the year. Saying all G5 teams are mathematically eliminated is “complete false” because Houston had a legitimate chance just 2 years ago. They blew it. Hopefully the rest of your day is filled with a little more optimism.
  4. You do realize 2/3rds of my “myth OOC schedule” is happening in 2019, right?
  5. Remember when Wisconsin was fighting the schedule debate last year after canceling our game? 2/3rds of the schedule I proposed is from our 2019 schedule. I simply proposed replacing BYU with literally any top 10-20 team. WVU, Ok State, Miami, Michigan State (remember them?) The PAC 12 is fighting the same thing on their coast. If they lose 1 game, they are done. I clearly stated that I understand the difficulties of getting programs to schedule us. I understand that the system is skewed in favor of the P5 conferences. However using UCF as an example to prove that a G5 team can’t get in under any circumstance is “completely false”.
  6. Like I said, I didn’t say it would be easy. I mean, we are talking about being viewed as a top 4 program in the nation. It’s a prerequisite that you better have a **** good team that can beat T25 teams. It’s not going to be handed to you. The point is, anyone spewing the “USF can’t get in because of the conference” bs is incorrect.
  7. How is UCFs schedule last year anywhere comparable to the hypothetical situation I proposed? How many T25 wins did they have last year? How many did they have outside of the AAC? That’s what killed them. Their best win was against us and we were ranked 21st. The outline I proposed had 5 top 25 teams on the schedule. UCF played 3, none of which were ranked above 20. I already covered the fact that there is an obvious bias. I didn’t say all you have to do is schedule one OOC game and boom, welcome to the playoffs. You have to earn it, more so than the P5 blue bloods. But with the right scheduling, it can be done. Me coming up with a proposed schedule that would have 5 top 25 wins and put us in the conversation has no bearing on how the team prepares for Illinois or their ability to win the AAC.
  8. Agreed. This isn’t to say we could run the table against that schedule, just to prove that it is possible to make the playoffs in the G5. Obviously you have to still fight the battle of brand names and finding P5 powerhouses willing to schedule us, however that’s another topic. It is absolutely possible given the circumstances for an AAC team to make the CFB playoffs. Cincy is building something over there and I expect them to take over for Memphis as the #4 team in the conference sooner rather than later
  9. Exactly. I just wish the BYU game was a little higher opponent. Someone like a Oklahoma St or WVU. For reference - If Ohio St runs the table this year, here are there potential top 25 wins: TCU, Penn State, Michigan*, Michigan State*, B10 Champ With 3 good OOC games, here is what USF could have Wisconsin, WVU, GT**, Houston, UCF, AAC Champ With an improved Cincinnati or Memphis, that resume would absolutely put us in the discussion no matter what happens elsewhere
  10. Assuming everyone stays for their final year of eligibility, this offense is going to be scary next year. Just hope we can find a way to schedule another OOC team to give us a shot
  11. This is just completely false. It would be possible given the correct scheduling. We were eliminated when the 2018 schedule was released, not because of the conference. If we were to go undefeated with wins against GT, ranked Houston 2x, ranked UCF, and a Miami/Wisconsin level team, we would 100% be in.
  12. I was there, dehydrated, sun burnt, and 2.99 sheets to the wind. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. Come fill one of those red seats one time
  13. “I knew we shouldn’t have scheduled your a$$”
  14. We rotated the DL a lot but not much outside of that. McGee and Sawtelle played the entire game outside of a play here or there. Interestingly enough, I think Keirston Johnson was the next LB up instead of Boyles.
  15. This is Boyles to a T. The kid can play. I hate counting on True Freshman to come in and hold down the fort, but he’s the Mike for the future.
  16. Who are the top 2 featured RBs in the offense? I understand a majority of the offense is dependent on the fronts you face, but I also have to imagine they will try and get the ball to Benson given his talent. Is Mason the #2 option in the run game?
  17. It’s not that we can’t keep the 5-2, you just want your outside “DE’s” to be able to run to give yourself a chance at keeping things inside. Interior DL will be responsible for shooting gaps and disrupting the dive End man on line of scrimmage fights to keep the edge. LB cleans up QB Safety takes pitch man
  18. Right, but if he’s playing outside in a 5 man front, and he’s the guy tackling the dive, we are in big trouble. The end in a 5-2 has to be able to set the edge. Livingston trying to set the edge and make the QB pitch doesn’t seem ideal
  19. I think Livingston is a little too stiff/slow to play the edge and pursue on pitch man. Id go Reaves, Bronson, Kegler, Livingston, VJ Rotation - Black, Barber, Pinkney, Yates, Brown
  20. I saw the same thing. Boyles was a pleasant surprise and he played really well. Our depth at LB is scary thin however.
  21. If we are looking at the same one, that is completely based off of last week and wasn’t officially released by the coaching staff
  22. Any updates on the injuries headed into this week? Bronson, Bell, Lapointe, etc.
  23. Barnett would have to play out of his mind to climb into the top 2-3 rounds. Pretty much would have to win the conference and play in the peach bowl (against a “P5 defense”) in order to get that type of projection. If we end up 10-2 ish and he’s just pretty good, you’re looking at a 5th round pick at best.
