  1. Since this thread speaks of the Big 12, /cfb on reddit is all abuzz about possible sanctions (their assumption) brewing in Texas. http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/19y5v0/major_news_coming_out_of_texas_tonight/
  2. I think we have three bye weeks because our schedule stretches into the weekend that other conferences are playing their championship games.
  3. I see many Thursday (and Friday) nights in our future.
  4. Virginia? I'll visit. And use my tried and true, "I work for the government" line. Consider this kid a lock.
  5. Besides all of CWT's awesome recruiting, this is the best* news ever. * My home = (See you there)
  6. The Only Part Interesting To Me Is That Grady Took The Time To Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word.
  7. Given how well AW seems to present himself verbally (based on E11 footage), it would have been particularly sweet to see him commit during the Army All-American game this afternoon. Oh well.
  8. Hate to derail this thread right when it is actually becoming informative, but I am interested in the opinion here. Maybe it will be just a brief diversion. What do you guys think? If AW signs and plays next year, what will USF's record be? And, now, how about he doesn't, and we go with Floyd/Evald; what's our record then? Ultimately, I KNOW AW will do this university a tremendous amount of good. Not just because of his skill, but because of his class and leadership. I am just wondering how much we are expecting of him next year. Thanks
  9. I am telling you, gents, I had the very same injury as Woulard. Probably a bit more severe. And was running in six months. And attended the Army's Special Forces Assessment and Selection (and all the physical examinations that entails) not long after. He'll be fine.
  10. No one wants this kid at USF more than I do. But I just don't see it any more. Think about it. How many fickle USF fans (here and on twitter) made short-sighted comments that may have swayed him negatively? And, compared to his other suitors, what does our conference have to offer other than constant upheaval? My assessment? This kid truly wanted to attend USF. And then USF (us, included) repelled him. Lol. It's like we are repugnant to our own best interests. Our only hope is that Willie T is the recruiter he appears to be. Here's to hoping Asiantii decides upon USF. I have my doubts but wish him the best no matter his choice. He seems a very bright, well-intended kid.
  11. You may not be the demographic soccer appeals to. And the one it does is growing at significant proportions in this country. Me? Total white dude. And I fully dig soccer.
  12. That sounds like a recruiting violation for NC...and also USF, great. what does? Fans contacting him is a violation. See http://thebullspen.c...60#entry1103438 Boosters contacting him is a violation. Not all fans are boosters. Secondary violation for fans contacting recruits. Don't have to be a booster. deadspin.com/5936658/georgia-may-have-to-self+report-ncaa-violation-after-dumbass-fan-calls-recruit ... there's also a rarely enforced ban on fans lobbying recruits—but UGA is going to make sure. Jim Booz, from Georgia's compliance office, told the Journal-Constitution: "There are five things that make someone become a booster, and one of them is if a fan is assisting in the recruiting of a prospect on Social Media, or over the telephone, or in person. If they solicit the enrollment of a prospect, then that's a violation of NCAA rules. So, if I encounter AW at the local Publix, which I won't because I'm in D.C., and say, "Hey, Bro, would love to see you at USF." Is this a violation? And, if so, is it because I'm alum What if I truly hate Rutgers (and I do), and encounter the same potential recruit and suggest, "Dude, I'd love to see you become a Scarlet Knight." Violation?
  13. I agree with this. Coach Holtz' extension absolutely jumped the gun, But Woolard's contribution to USF has been otherwise outstanding. Think of that rebuilt Sundome we all laud. And the hiring of the basketball coach. A redeveloped athletics district that, no doubt, required lobbying by Mr. Woolard far beyond what any of us understand. Coach Holtz is not serving the USF football program well. But dragging the AD down with Holtz is ignorant to the good the AD has done outside of football. Many, and perhaps MOST programs would love to have experienced the growth USF athletics have experienced under Woolard's guidance.
  14. If its just a fibula fx its not a problem. The chips around the ankle needs to be clarified though. Usually for a fibula fracture they put a plate on the side with screws. Or they can hammer a rod up from the bottom. Depends on the MD. I worked with an MD that designed a plate that he used for that type fracture, the Kennedy Plate. I sort of disagree. When I broke my fibula, I also cracked my ankle and had the debris in there, like described by Woulard. I had a pin placed in my ankle, but had it removed upon recovery. My point, however, is to indicate that I am absolutely assured he will recover fully. I would argue that the activities I have done on my repaired leg (injury occurred in Dec 2009) on more impactful than Woulard should expect to encounter on the football field. I have had zero problems. Nor should he. That's all. Just wanted to lend some reassurance based on a similar experience. Back to lurking
  15. Suffered exactly this same injury. Was active again in six months, and recovered fully. I do not know if this stud's recovery procedures will be the same as mine, but I now have a rod in my lower leg. Although upon full recovery, it serves no real purpose. Have passed many demanding military physicals since the injury and attended some rigorous courses. If his healing is similar, this should not adversely affect his physical future. Hope he experiences the same quick path to health I was fortunate to find.
  16. 2.5 questions: 1. How significant is CSH's presence on Woulard's commitment to attend USF, and would that commitment soften should Holtz be removed? 2. If you could have one, but not both, would you rather keep Holtz and maintain Woulard's commitment or replace CSH but also lose Woulard? # 2 being totally hypothetical. IMO, I am all in for Woulard and would do whatever necessary to keep him at USF. I think his passion even more than his talent will do wonders for this program.
  17. Look on the bright side: Our D doesn't have to face this year's WVU offense.
  18. I can not re-locate the thread, but related to this one, thread participants in another suggested that "if academic success followed the same with athletics" than Alabama, LSU, and USC would be the top academic schools. Which, of course, they are not. But the argument is a strawman. Collegiate academics are so dynamic. The factors that made Princeton, Yale, and Harvard tops now are no longer the dominant factors. I, for one, would not be shocked if Alabama reached near Princeton prestige within the next 50 years if their football team continues recent success. The super intelligent do not grow up in a vacuum. And winning is contagious. Smart people like football too. Moreover, they like endowments that can benefit their studies. Endowment is affected by the athletics department; especially when measured on the long term. To suggest that the football team does not affect the prestige of the school is crazy. Notre Dame is a striking example.
  19. Not paint...a nice vinyl banner. It looks tacky, simply put. I'm glad it's not paint. It looks AWFUL. Can we get a pic of this purported monstrosity? I just added a pic of it to my blog, along with no less than 20 other pics from my journey down to Tampa for the FSU game: http://autobiographyofsteve.blogspot.com/2012/10/university-of-south-florida.html And, in particular, the Bulls graphic on the library: Please visit my blog(s). Thanks all!
  20. So, on Friday, I am driving some 1K miles to watch USF play on Saturday night. And driving home the next day. Because I care. I only ask that the team puts forward an effort consistent with my own. Should they fail to do so, I will likely find myself negative in attitude.
