**** i miss Leavitt
whiskeyboarder replied to dausfbulls11's topic in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
You know, there is seriously something to this. I used to tutor in the Athletic Center during the CJL era, and I remember Coach walking through once when the environment was a little rambunctious; so, not conducive to learning. Coach admonished the entire room, and I can tell you that there was silence in there after that. Every athlete took that dude seriously. From all sports. Which is a bit perplexing given how undisciplined CJL's team often played on the field. Anyway, just a little anecdote. I have faith in Coach Taggart, but do miss CJL's fire. -
This thread is heading down a slippery slope.

Chase Litton, QB, Tampa Wharton HS
whiskeyboarder replied to Triple B's topic in Prospects & Potential Recruits
Wait.. wut? This only hurts because of how steadfast his commitment seemed. That said, I wish the young man the best in his decision making process. Knowing how poor of decisions I made at his age, I simply can't imagine the magnitude of the options that he has to pick from. I wish him the best. I think he is talented. I hope he comes to USF. But, like Woulard, I won't think less of him for choosing otherwise. To each their own! -

Man, I hope this kid sticks with us. About as solid a tradition as USF has is QB recruits breaking our hearts. -
i thought dana white ran the show and was the owner from my limited knowledge Dana White is president, but not owner. He was responsible for making the Ferttitas aware of the organization, however. And, while Dana is now the face of the UFC, Lorenzo, one of the brothers, is much more articulate and a better representative of the sport, IMO. Hope you enjoyed the event.

There's also WSOF. But, yeah, UFC is in a league of its own. As for the owners of the UFC being billionaires? Pretty much. They are the Fertitto brothers, casino moguls, and own UFC under the Zuffa umbrella they incorporated to do so. My passion for UFC is only behind the same I have for the Bulls and Flyers.

Bobby, Matt, or Mike?
whiskeyboarder replied to BullsFanInTX's topic in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
I'm rooting for Bobby to have a fantastic senior season. Thus they can redshirt Mike White. Bobby Eveld to set the program on the right direction. And Mike take it out the universe. USF will be known as QB-U. My faith in Coach's recruiting prowess is such that I have no real concern for White's redshirt. I trust that that next year or, at worst, the year after, we will bring in a QB with a level of talent equal to/better than any USF has ever had. -
The last thing I want to watch is a scripted game with no reality...The backs make fabulous runs the receivers make great catches,,,because...THEY ARE NOT BEING COVERED...I want to see strong points AND WEAKNESSES When we recruit this year..I would like to be able to realize any holes USF is trying to fill. Dummy Games and scimmages makes DUMMIES out of all of us. Go Bulls It's a single scrimmage. And, more, a showcase for fans. The numerous other practices that will likely be of no interest to most fans will serve adequately to prove to Coach where recruiting is needed. Let the kids, the fans, and the media have this day. Sheesh! Ok and at the First game we will all be surprised by BS...Please NO...We had too many excusses in the past. I wan't HOPE and it might be tough...but that's better then "THE ROSEY PATH": of BS. Go Bulls Lol. What? Not to diminish your point, but I am having trouble comprehending. My point is simply that this single scrimmage, the one made for the entertainment of the fans, may not be indicative of the coaching strategy applied during all other scrimmages/practices. Please, have faith. It's healthy. I swear Ok It's hard for me to clean the Skippy out of my body..it was so much BS that I could not believe a single word after a while. Hence my desire to see some ACTUAL QUALITY... So much was promissed..We were going to the next level..We did go the the next level straight down I can accept a certiain amount of Frosting but I has choking on the quantity.. Go Bulls Alright, I understand you now. I think the Spring Game should be taken with a grain of salt. Even if it was ones-on-ones, its too early to really take much of substance from it. Soo.... If next year is a total failure, then perhaps we need to demand something different. But, for now, lets all embrace the exuberance of our Coach. And enjoy things. For once!

American Athletic Conference
whiskeyboarder replied to atl86bull's topic in American Athletic Conference
Yeah, I can deal with this. Any name will be more likely to embarrass than astound. And, this one does neither. So, that's a win in my book. "American Metro," for example, made for immediate jokes. Good enough. -
I love everything about this. Coach is having fun, and hopefully the players are too. I bet they are. A competitive, fun atmosphere may be conducive to wins. But, more importantly its cool to see Coach having perspective. Just this week, we all witnessed an unpaid student athlete suffer a compound injury. These kids are giving a lot and, in return (relative to the earnings they produce), are receiving so little. So, to me, its cool to see Coach producing a competitive, fun atmosphere for these kids to enjoy. Good for him. And good for them. Everything about this is positive. As far as Coach expecting 10K? Who cares if he is wrong. Again, I admire his positive attitude. Hopefully, it trickles down to my peer Bulls fans on this board! Go Bulls!

Surprised not to find this previously discussed here. Stewart Mandel was on a local sports show talking about the issue. I missed his segment, but for the few that followed, the hosts (Lavar (Arrington) & Dukes) were pretty worked up about his commentary. Some information: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130402/ed-obannon-ncaa-case-primer/ Apparently Ed O'Bannon is the lead figure in a class action lawsuit against the NCAA, basically claiming that collegiate athletes were/are responsible for the money made by their likenesses (and, therefore, are owed a percentage of it by the NCAA and its cohorts). And the case seems to have some non-negligible chance of ending with a result fairly dire for the NCAA as we now know it. Any opinions; especially you that speak legalese? Thanks.
