  1. Did she lie and say she had a PhD? I never said she lied about that, but you have to be old enough to know what was going on back then. There were university elders (old fart professors) who did not like that she did not have a PhD, and they complained that it was a defacto standard for a university president to have a PhD. They also did not like that they had a PhD, but their boss did not. IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU? You are not getting that in one case the person lied and in the other it was a defacto requirement and a open discussion took place where she was awarded the position. In the former case there is an integrity issue that cannot be overlooked by a university. It would be like hiring an embessler as a bank teller. If university hires someone who lies about getting a degree what does it say about their ultimate product? If this were professional athletics then it wouldn't be a big deal. University coaches are educators, and you can't hire an educator who lied about his academic credentials. What if this came out after we hired him, let's say a year from now? That would have been really bad.
  2. Even Darren Rovell is getting in on this. Outside the Lines next? darren rovell ✔ @darrenrovell Follow POLL: Should a college coach who lied about his academic career lose his job? #YES #NO
  3. FWIW: Masiello is getting trashed on Twitter now. There's no way that Manhattan can re-hire him now, or anyone for that matter.
  4. Well if he lied about it it is a problem. I just don't see it as such a big problem that we can't hire the guy unless is a legal requirement for the job. What people fail to realize is that USF is an academic institution. 1) Academic dishonesty is a big deal and they can't hire someone who lied about their credentials, and 2) having a degree is a requirement for a head coach This is from 2007, but you can see the minimum qualifications: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/human-resources/pdfs/class-comp/job-codes/9613.pdf
  5. Speculation or confirmed? We definitely look a lot better now. See: http://www.nytimes.com/2001/12/15/sports/notre-dame-coach-resigns-after-5-days-and-a-few-lies.html
  6. Sampson is a phenomenal hire. He lead Oklahoma and Indiana to the NCAA's 12 times in 14 years. He holds a career 496–271 (.647) record.
  7. NCAA set those boys up for a fall. They were going to make sure the Shockers did not make it into on the final four. No more Butlers its not good for college basketball... Would be shocked (no pun intended) if he came here. Marshall is making $1.75m and is coming off 3 straight tourney appearances. What makes you think he'd take the USF job? He's primed to be hired by a Power 5 team at $3+ mil per year. What makes you think I or anybody said Marshall would be willing to come to USF? My bad. I mistakenly saw a not there.

  9. What happens if/when we need to replace Taggart? He's only making $1.15m per year. Could we afford to attract a quality football coach if the basketball coach is making nearly $2m? http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20121208/article/121209628
  10. We're not power-5. Doesn't matter to him.
  11. Sarcasm?? I mean it be nice, but out new AD was part of the group that fired him He was part of the group, but it's ultimately the AD and the chancellor's decision. Who knows if Harlan was in favor of it.
  12. How much will we be paying Heath not to be coach? $1.5 Million buyout Yup. Joey Johnston â€@JJohnstonTBO 2m Stan Heath has 4 more years on #USF contract. He is due $1.5M buyout. Skip Holtz was fired in December 2012 and his buyout was $2.5m over 5 years. Sounds like we're paying him until 2017. If Heath's is $1.5m over 4 years then we are paying $875,000 per year to two ex-coaches.

  14. But 3 Friday night games, 2 of which are at home. Aaaaaaand August 31st is a Sunday. Think they need to fix that...

  17. Not sure if you are serious. I believe Mike White Jr will blow that guy away when all is said and done. Brissett was a top recruit who had a pretty solid run at Florida before transferring when Driskel won the job. Heck, Taggart made a run at him when transferred. Mike White isn't even guaranteed to start. He got beat out by Jeff Driskel. That says it all.
  18. Sucks, but kids who go JUCO are always risks.
  19. Our future OCS should have a big pool. That would be a huge draw for students to early games, IMO. The Jaguars did it... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/22479000/jaguars-jacksonville-announce-63m-renovation-for-everbank So did the Romans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naumachia

  21. Are the "before " numbers from before the season started or after it ended? These guys will lose some of it from playing.
  22. Can we change the title of this thread? The article has nothing to do with realignment.
