  1. I was really excited for the season after that game. Thought we’d cruise through the next 4 opponents based on that. Oh well.
  2. I understand the argument about coming from ASun and having to play at a higher level in the AAC, but that should be irrelevant when it comes to competing with teams like CMU, Maine, Hofstra, so I am pretty disappointed. Yes, give him time, but I expected we'd look better in these Nov-Dec non-conference games.
  3. Should also add that when I went to find said site and couldn’t remember the name of it, it was @WoolyBully who helped me find it and sign up. We were both inmates at the same facility back then.
  4. I think it's fair that someone revived this thread at the end of the season. It's not about being a hater. I didn't want him as HC here anyway. Don't really care if he succeeds or fails at CU. Don't really care to speculate what would have happened if he came here. It's not being a hater to appreciate a good ol' fashioned train wreck or to find a bit of pleasure when someone talks a lot of smack and then doesn't back it up. I'm happy we didn't get Deion. I want it to be about USF. Gotta admit, I didn't know who Golesh was when they announced him, but I'm glad we got him.
  5. Oh, yes. I do remember the white helmets and how excited the team was (and the fans) because it was so shockingly out of the ordinary, and it had been kept a secret. Now its just a weekly thing to see a new helmet (yawn). I wish they'd stick with the GOLD and then when they do make an exception, it would be a "big deal." But, as long as they win like they did that day, I guess the helmets wouldn't really matter. I think that was the game where Ben Busbee had a big day. We met his dad at the game.
  6. Wife and I closed down the bar at Leows hotel south beach the night before the Miami Beach Bowl. Doing aguardiente (fire water) shots with the bartender. Some ladies brought the trophy into the bar that night. I think it was a bad move for us to have seen the trophy the night before the game. We may have jinxed it.
  7. Life is about timing...and the timing for that couldn't have been worse. It's in the past now, and we can't change it, but yeah that was total coulda/woulda/shoulda stuff right there.
  8. Anyone remember sitting in the Sun Bowl circa late 2007...Somebody hiked up a nearby peak and planted a Bulls flag on it. Looked pretty cool before the game. Whoever did that...nice work! Also (not a bowl game), but somebody put a USF hat on the statue of Bobby Bowden at fsu on game day...same person maybe?
  9. What's he supposed to say? "Were gonna suck even worse next year."
  10. Charlotte 2005. Mieneke Car Care Bowl vs. NCST. The day before, it was like USF owned the city. USF fans everywhere. I found out about TheBullsPen the night before the game by accidentally stumbling into a bar full of Bulls fans. Thought it was just by chance, but it was a planned event. Somebody asked me what my nickname/avatar was so they could give me a paper nametag. I had no idea what they were talking about. The said go to theBullsPen.com (which I did when I got back home). The morning of the game (kickoff was 11 am new years eve), when we woke up, the entire town was red black and white. Never seen so many wolfpack fans. We lost the game 14-0 (we never really did have an offense that year with the exception of the louisville game). But it was cool to have experienced the first bowl game ever for the program.= The next year, we attended to B'Ham bowl to watch USF's first bowl win over ECU. Went to El Paso and St. Pete. Missed the one in Canada. and since then have only been to Miami and the one here in tampa. Regret missing the bowl wins against Clemson, SC, and texas tech.
  11. oh, i see what you did there. but yes, I consider the season to be not over yet. I don't think the grade I have in mind would be negatively affected the bowl game result (unless we get 56 hung on us again), but it could help the grade on the positive side...kind of like "extra credit".
  12. Season grade: I (incomplete). Waiting for bowl game and results.
  13. not only did we totally back into that bowl, there was a really bad storm front that came through the night before and day of the game. not sure if anything was planned, but all the activities in the parking lots were cancelled due to crappy weather. it was almost as if the football Gods were trying to warn us.
  14. USF athletics always seeks to maintain homeostasis. Football achieves a bowl game and volleyball had a good year, so WBB must have a down year to compensate.
  15. What happened with our former conference mates? A: They lived happily ever after.
  16. I believe they get the information about which tickets are used to enter. I always get a "thanks for attending the game" email after the game...but I've never missed one, so I don't know if it is a "smart" email or not. I think its probably a catch 22. USF probably wants to make it as easy as possible for every student to get a ticket. But yeah, if people are taking them and not showing up, that's an issue. Maybe this all goes away when we get our own stadium. How does UF/FSU do it? Do the students have to request a ticket in advance, or do they just show up with a student id first come first serve?
  17. Sounds like a place I know east of orlando. (well, except for the 'fun to visit' part).
  18. This is where I am as well. I want these guys to get a cool trip to somewhere else. As far as having the chance to beat central again someday, I almost feel 100% certain that we will play these idiots again someday. There's too much money to be made on the game between ticket sales and tv revenue. They'll figure out how to play that game from time to time, but I don't think we need to do it this year.
  19. 100% Also, do you think Deion will be interested in coaching at Colorado once his son is done playing there?
  20. I have a hunch about this. Back in the day, students had to go pick up a physical ticket in person or have a friend do it. An investment of time (waiting in line, etc) would mean that going through the trouble to get a ticket probably translated to intent to go to the game. Now it’s all online. Grab a student ticket just in case you decide to go. What is the cost to you if you don’t use it? I’m just guessing, but this would explain why the tickets are claimed but not used.
  21. No. Gotta beat the maines and cmus of the world. Thought cmu was a lucky fluke for them. This game was eerily similar when it came to how well they shot vs how crappy we shot.
