  1. Should be up 20+... So many careless turnovers.
  2. The rankings don't matter though. I would get it if they doled out tournament spots based upon the rankings, but they don't. It helps TV sell "big" games.
  3. 3 conference road wins in a row.....let's make it 4! A win over UNT is huge, as it widens the gap between the top 4 teams in the league and the rest of the pack. Getting that double-bye is absolutely the goal at this point. If the Bulls can go at least 3-2 over the next 5 games then they will be in good position, especially if UAB upsets SMU.
  4. Even before that we have to win on the road at ECU Wednesday. If we pull that off, it will be our first 3 road game winning streak since 2013-2014 and our first in-conference 3 game road winning streak since the 1998-1999 season.
  5. That is about the only scenario where I see USF getting an at-large bid. We won't be able to overcome our incredibly weak non-conference schedule and our relatively weak conference slate. The lesson learned from the NET rankings is that you have to try and schedule harder OOC games. I know it is easier said than done, but we should be targeting some mid-tier SEC and ACC matchups.
  6. Based upon past cases, I believe the committee would do so. If we end up winning out and go 26-6 with our lone lose in the AAC Finals to say FAU in a close one, I imagine that the committee would put more stock in the 24-2 stretch at the end of the season than the 2-4 stretch at the beginning. What is their record in your hypothetical? I am interested to know what your belief is based upon.
  7. I think it is adorable that some of you think we should be ranked. Tell me you didn't follow college basketball before this season without telling me you didn't follow college basketball before this season.
  8. This team has turned into something special. You have everything that you want in a complete team. Excited for the rest of the season.
  9. I have been doing well betting on the Bulls when they are trailing early. Made some nice money off of the Memphis game and again tonight. Start slow, finish strong.
  10. IF USF can finish in the top 4 of the conference, they will get a bye into the Quarterfinals. That means only having to win 3 games to make the NCAA tournament. While those will likely be 3 of the better teams in the conference, it is our most likely path to the Tourney. I think we go 9-4 down the stretch, finishing the regular season 20-9 (13-5). It's doubtful that will be good enough to finish in the top 4 given how bad the bottom 6 teams in the conference are. It certainly is nice to actually be considering these possibilities!
  11. We essentially need to win out to make it. Not sure how much attention you have paid to the selection process in the past, but there is no way that 20 or 21 regular season wins gets us into consideration. We still have 13 regular season games remaining. 20 wins would mean 9 losses and, as has previously been pointed out, quite a few bad losses. Part of the problem is that we didn't schedule as many OOC games as most schools and our OOC SOS was incredibly weak, ranked #222. The average NET ranking for our remaining opponents is 161. There are only 3 quality opponents left on our schedule. In order to be an at-large, we will have a minimum of 6 losses and at least 3 bad losses. If USF were to win out, they would be 24-5 going into the conference tournament. Maybe, if I squint enough, I could see a 23-6 or 22-7 regular season USF team that makes it to the conference finals getting one of the #11 seed play-in game spots, but even that might be a stretch. Keep in mind that a top 4 seed in the conference means a double-bye in the tournament. USF would finish in the 24-8 to 26-6 range. USF must go a minimum of 11-2 in their remaining games to have any sort of shot. Realistically, 12-1 or 13-0 is needed.
  12. I believe that turnovers are down as well. Otherwise, statistically, this team is identical to last season's. It's amazing what a thin line there is between winning and losing.
  13. It will be really hard, if not impossible at this point, to get to the NCAA Tourney without winning the conference tournament. We might be able to afford one more loss and somehow slide in if we made the conference finals, but our overall body of work is going to be lacking even with a win over FAU. The losses to CMU, Maine, and Hofstra, while part of the building process, essentially cost us any shot at an at-large. The change to the NIT qualification rules are total BS. In the past, a regular season conference champ who didn't qualify for the NCAA tournament would get a guaranteed spot in the NIT. Now, the NIT is guaranteeing 12 of their spots to the 2 highest NET ranked teams from the P6 (Big East included) that did not qualify for the NCAA tournament. Not only that, those 12 teams will get the opportunity to host first round games, leaving only 4 hosting spots for all of the other teams in the tournament. Last season the Mountain West was ranked #5 in the NET, ahead of the Pac 12 and the ACC. Most seasons, most of those teams will deserve to host, but not always. Last year 6 non-P6 teams were given top 16 seeds, moving forward it looks like it will be no more than 4. The rule should be that regular season conference champs only get a guaranteed spot if they are in the top-100 of the NET. I know that the NIT is just worried about money, interest, and ratings, but this change only further benefits the haves over the have nots.
  14. Not with our non-conf. SOS. IMO, we will have to either win out or win the conference tournament to have any shot at the tournament. The conference tournament will be competitive but winnable.
  15. Forgot the NIT. This team just beat the best team in the conference on the road. Let's get back to the Big Dance!
  16. I know he was injured and missed week 4 against Louisville. He returned in week 5 against ECU, but was not 100%. He played through the SMU game and only missed the last two weeks of the season. I remember him taking a lot of big hits and looking hurt throughout the year. I am not going to blindly hate on a kid (who was our best WR, by far) without knowing a little bit more on the subject other than whispers and rumors.
  17. Are we 100% certain of this? He was pretty banged up in 2022 going after all those 50/50 balls. Could it be he held out because he was trying to full recover from injury?
  18. Someone mentioned earlier this week that he was going to be a flip to USF per the pay sites. Taking one from a conference rival would be huge.
  19. So happy to hear this for you, her, and the rest of the family!
  20. I just booked $70 R/T on Spirit flying into FLL Thursday morning and back early Friday morning. Just a backpack needed. Getting a car through Turo for $50. Booked the Fairfield Boca, closest to the stadium, for $139 through the bowl website. My buddy is a Syracuse grad, so we will enjoy the short trip for under $275 total including the flight, car, hotel, game ticket, and tailgate.
  21. Awesome trip with the exception of the actual game. Things just were more special back then.
  22. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. Would probably be a transfer portal first!
  23. Brown had too many INTs. There were a lot of QBs that put up big numbers in this league. Pratt shouldn't have won, Stone or Henigan had better numbers and played more games. Looking at Brown as a dual-threat though, leading the league in yards and yards per game, I think they could have at least made him an Honorable Mention.
  24. Weaver had a great season for Colorado. They were hurt by having no offensive line, but he set career highs in receptions (68) and yards (908). He has a chance to make it to the NFL. Horn became more of a possession receiver for Colorado and the big plays that he made for USF were not there as, again, Colorado had no pass protection. Battie was buried on the depth chart, so his numbers took a huge hit. Don't know how much he got paid to go to Auburn, but he would have provided a dynamic for USF that we lacked in the backfield. To go from a nearly 1300 yard/ 8 TD guy at USF to a 270 yard/ 1 TD guy at Auburn is disappointing. Hopefully for him, he gets to shine his senior year. Schrader had his most productive year at Notre Dame and saw an improvement in his long distance range, hitting on 4 out of 6 from 50+ yards. Grier, as previously stated, did ok at Arkansas. His one INT was returned for a TD. I do not begrudge any of these guys for leaving. In Grier's case he had dealt with Strong and Scott and deserved to get away from the burning wreckage. As for the others, its hard to turn down money and a chance to play at a more prestigious school. I wish we had them because our offense would have been much more dynamic. Imagine Weaver and Horn out wide with Atkins in the slot and Battie in the backfield with this offense....yowzah!
  25. BB should be back for at least one more year. He isn't there just yet, but is definitely improving. I am far more concerned about losing him after next season.
