  1. The question would be where Taggart would be willing to go. Would you want to take over a bottom-feeder like Kentucky? What about a team like Kansas or Kansas State? Iowa State? Virginia? The point being, unless a truly marquee type job opens up, I'm not totally convinced that CWT will bolt. He was able to parlay the South Carolina interview into more money and they were able to say that they interviewed a minority coach for the position. That was a win-win for both sides, but he was never being seriously considered for the position. Additionally, I believe Holtz's $500,000 per year buyout expires after this season, so that should free up some money in the budget to potentially give CWT and his assistants a bump if need be. His new contract is also incentive laden and has a pretty steep buyout that most marginal programs wouldn't want to pony up. http://www.tbo.com/sports/colleges/usf-bulls/usf-signs-taggart-to-contract-extension-through-2020-season-20151221/ With his pay increase to $1.7 million, he is now right in the middle of the coaches nationwide, and his assistants' salary pool is competitive as well. http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/
  2. You are the exception, not the rule. According to our Big 12 presentation, 160,000 alumni live in the Tampa Bay area. If just one 8th of them attended the game and brought someone along with them, that would be 40,000 USF fans. Also, USF did make it attractive for alumni to go to the game. The three game packs were priced to sell at $119 for 3 games. That works out to $40 a ticket for the lower level, quite a bargain if you ask me. Currently, there are $129 three game packs remaining. Point being, USF priced the game at the correct price point and offered a discount to those willing to support the team beyond the one "big" home game against FSU.
  3. Agreed. Not every series can be against a P5. These are smart games against good/beatable competition.
  4. This is precisely the type of game that we MUST win to move to the next level. There is no question that we are a better team than Syracuse, but we must bring it for 60 minutes and not let up. They will continue to run their hurry up offense, even if they are down by 21 points. The worry about this game is because of how poorly our teams HAD performed over the 4.5 seasons prior to last year's turnaround. If we go up to Cuse and take care of business (win by 14+ points) I think we finish with no worse than 2 loses on the season. One of my concerns is our ability to create turnovers. I know that NIU played it safe, but we didn't manage to get a single turnover. I will be watching the Cuse game closely hoping that we capitalize on their mistakes. We will absolutely need to force a few turnovers in order to have a shot against FSU.
  5. What I see on the film is a team that still has a lot of room for improvement. The obvious: QF's accuracy on short passes, penalties, pass rush. The not so obvious: more designed runs for Flowers, more throws over the middle of the field, and tighter DB coverage at the line. What that tells me is that we have yet to peak. I hope we continue to build and improve every single week. Although we haven't faced a formidable defense yet, the offensive line looks REALLY good again this season. LB and DB play has been stellar, and our DTs are plugging up the middle quite well.
  6. Apparently, the betting public is respecting us by putting their money where their mouths are. USF is up to a -14 favorite now.
  7. Well, here are the match-ups for teams #20 to 25 in the current AP Poll: 20 LSU 1-1 391 1 vs Jacksonville State W 34-13 9/17 vs Mississippi State 21 Baylor 2-0 305 2 vs SMU W 40-13 9/16 @ Rice 22 Oregon 2-0 292 2 vs Virginia W 44-26 9/17 @ Nebraska 23 Florida 2-0 205 — vs Kentucky W 45-7 9/17 vs North Texas 24 Arkansas 2-0 198 — @ #15 TCU W 41-38 9/17 vs Texas State 25 Miami 2-0 197 — vs Florida Atlantic W 38-10 9/17 @ Appalachian State Aside from Miami, and maybe Oregon, not much of a chance for a loss among those teams. Then we would have to pass every other team ranked ahead of us that is also receiving votes: Utah 62, TCU 62, San Diego State 51, UCLA 47, Boise State 42, Pittsburgh 39, Oklahoma State 22, Nebraska 11, North Carolina 10, Auburn 7, Central Michigan 4, Colorado 2, Arizona State 1, Cincinnati 1 Cincy plays Houston and SDSU plays NIU. Nebraska plays Oregon, so one of those two will be ranked. I'm too lazy to look up the rest, but I just don't see us jumping 14 teams, even with an impressive win over Cuse. As for the coaches poll, we would have to leap over 10 teams....again, even with a 50-20 type of game against Syracuse, I just don't see it happening. We are going to have to beat FSU to get in to "the club".
  8. Unfortunately, I just don't see how we jump into the Top 25, even with a big win over Cuse. Too many teams to pass in the rankings. We will be Top 15, possibly Top 10, once we beat the Noles after they beat The Ville.
  9. I believe that most people on here with experience in athletic departments know that most, if not all, schools report tickets sold/distributed. If you have a choice between a smaller number and a bigger one, of course you are going to report the bigger one. What isn't fair about it is when it is reported and it is not apples to apples.
  10. I believe most feel that this is not a good metric because we are one of the only programs in the country that have their turnstile attendance reported. Every other program reports tickets sold/distributed, which is what USF does as well. In turn, other fan bases use the fact that USF reports actual numbers in order to make fun of us or argue against our inclusion into the Big 12.
  11. This is great and everyone should be encouraged to take advantage of the offer. The more we can get to come to the games the better, especially with the high quality/entertaining product we are putting on the field.
  12. We would be wise to keep it going. The partnership had been great and we were one of the first schools to sign with them, so there will hopefully be mutual loyalty and appreciation.
  13. I was at the game. Didn't get to hear him, but glad to have someone with VERY recent insight into the program providing some commentary.
  14. Unfortunately it went for negative yardage, but happy for the Junkyard Dog!
  15. Another 6'5" Bull....let's hope MVS is as good as the other two 6'5" guys.
  16. I was out in South Tampa this week and heard him yell, "F her right in the P" so it is possible!
  17. They won't beat The Ville playing like this....or us for that matter. They are really susceptible to a mobile QB
  18. I can't believe how bad the entire FSU team looks. You get the feeling that everyone is pressing because they don't have faith in Francois.
  19. Francois is looking like a freshman. I hope he really improves....week 5.
  20. Seems to be the theme. But seriously, I am excited to see the numbers he can put up this season. Have we ever had a true WR with his height?
