  1. We also want all currently projected conference winners to win their conference tournaments. If a 1-seed in XYZ conference loses to an 8 seed, the 8 seed gets the AQ and the 1 seed (more than likely) has a higher NET than us and would take an at-large spot from us. Cheer for all of those conference leaders this next week and a half. (Eastern Kentucky's NET is thankfully >200, so that one isn't an issue)
  2. Traffic for sporting events is not something we've had to deal with consistently. The school will adjust with new parking flows and/or infrastructure. That said, any time you have an event with thousands of people, there will never be a perfect answer. Waiting in line to park for USF basketball is the happiest I've ever waiting in a parking line in a long time (granted, you're early enough you aren't going to miss much).
  3. I don't think it's a secret, this team is getting better and better every single game. What used to be come from behind wins, became close games until the buzzer, are now just about complete control the entire game. (Sure, Tulane was back-and forth until about mid-way into the second half, but we dominated SMU and Charlotte. I think SMU came within 7 points once in the second half?) This team not only deserves to be in the NCAAT, but should probably be a top 4 seed the way they are playing now. I just can't see how some of these 5-10 seeds are better than us right now.
  4. Would love for Selton to stay another year. Even Hines, wasn't a "full-time" player, but impactful when he was on the court. Looking forward to the conference tournament.
  5. Certainly looks like Selton is moving on. Looks like we have a spot open for Karter...
  6. Would love to hear about your time and thoughts on a sold out YC.
  7. There is a lot of theory and subjective coaching within the game, at all levels/ages. Moneyball, long ball, small ball, take until you get a strike, never swing at first pitch, steal, don't steal, best hitters top of the order, best hitters 3/4 spots, "second leadoff man" in the 9-hole, opener, starter goes deep, the list goes on. They can all be effective if executed. Depends on the coaching staff. Somehow, we have an abysmal record against UNF, dropping the last 7 straight. Down 5-4 currently, let's pull this one out. EDIT: Best tradition in college baseball is the TAMU ball 5 chant.
  8. Yea I don't know guys, if you look at the stats and the record over the last 7 years, I don't know how you defend this coaching. CBM is closer to a baseball xCJS than he is to CAG. The good news is that pitching so far is night and day better than it was last year. Hope it can save us when the bats are quiet.
  9. I think this is more B12 conspiracy stuff. Don't think that makes sense at all for the ACC. Also, UConn is a pretty good school. Not AAU, but higher ranked than everyone else on that list based on US News.
  10. Baseball is my sport. I don't watch it to see home runs, I don't go to games to see the Diamond Dolls (bring them back!). I go to see my team compete, and over the last few years we have been nowhere near as competitive as this team should be. The last time this team has had ANY fight in them was against Texas in the Supers. Thank you for correcting the inning, either way we had a lead, and c continued to FIGHT to the last inning, they had all momentum even though we were winning. We were quiet. Agreed that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports, but last time I checked hitting requires swinging the bat. The mindset of a baseball player who doesn't even swing the bat, in that situation, at this level of competition, is 100% on the coaching staff. There's a difference between wanting to win and being out-skilled (see: Marist probably), and being highly skilled and not having the mentality and drive to win every single game. Just a hunch, but I imagine that's why Cantu transferred to FSU. Could NIL have been a factor? Sure. But that program expects to win and competes every single day, and has for decades. Give CBM 50% of the desire to compete that CAG or CAAR has, and this team will be well above .500. They have the skill. The year will play out, and it could very well turn out to be a good season. Every single Bulls fan wants that to be the case. It's disappointing that we aren't even going .500 out of conference and the trend is continuing. CBM may even still be here for another year or two as the administration continues to invest in football/basketball heavily.
  11. Can you believe you just typed that for USF men's basketball at the YC? Incredible.
  12. Love organic names, especially culture-enhancers. Also not opposed to "donate us money and this tailgate space will be named whatever you want it to be". Thebullspen.com tailgate zone? Judy Genshafts get-shafted row?
  13. I don't know. For two years now (since Super Regional), watching the team play showed glaring fundamental issues which is directly tied to the coach. The mindset, the preparation. Even this weekend, game 1, tied 1-1 in the top of the 8th, 1 out, runner on base - back to back strikeouts looking. "But he was a good pitcher", "the guys were tired", "dirt was in the batters' eyes", "bad call by the ump", whatever the excuse, ending the inning with two straight backwards k's is 100% a coaching issue. We do not have the mentality of playing to win. It's been an epidemic across USF sports for the better part of the decade (except Women's basketball and maybe soccer?), and now that basketball, football, track/field, and volleyball have all turned it around and are playing to win - it stands out that much more for baseball. That said, this team is hyper aggressive on the base paths this year and that's sweet. Also the pitching looks improved, but still a bit too early to say. The rotation out of the pen looked really good this weekend. Giving up 8 runs across 3 games, in their park? Let's get some consistency at the plate and this team can be good.
  14. Sure is cool seeing The University of South Florida penciled in as the 1 seed while no other team has a confirmed placement yet. Surreal.
  15. Bama hired the guy who lost in the national championship to the same team that Saban lost to. They aren't dropping off by much, if at all. Playing in Tuscaloosa? Not taking the Bulls moneyline on that one.. That said, Bulls by 30.
  16. USF needs more fans. We are a full generation or two behind many of the schools we compete against. We will catch up (and pass many) quickly, but in this case quickly is most likely 10-30 years. Exercise: You find a genie's lamp and because you didn't ask for more wishes, the genie grants you 25,000 new, hardcore fans to USF. These fans buy season tickets, donate to NIL, go to 70%+ of home games and even travel at least once a season, and most definitely go to any playoff scenarios for the team. Caveat, they only support one team. It is up to you to allocate the 25,000 fans to each sport. How would you spread them out across USF athletics? My answer: 10,000 to football. This will all but guarantee home sell outs at OCS and respectable crowds at away games plus bowls. 5,000 to men's basketball. We were averaging approximately 3,500 before the magic started happening - add 5k and we'd have consistent home games of around 8k at minimum. 3,000 to women's basketball. Same as men's basketball, but slightly less. 2,000 to baseball. Averaging 3k+ for baseball games would be incredible. (I'm a baseball homer) 1,000 to W lacrosse. 1,000 to men's soccer. 1,000 to women's soccer. 500 to softball. (stadium is pretty full already most games?) 150 each to the remaining 10 sports. Would be willing to sub 1-2k from men's basketball (we are currently selling those tickets pretty well) and allocate more to volleyball/beach volleyball, as well as golf. Not sure how many people go to college golf tournaments, but imagine having a crowd of 500 USF fans show up and follow the squads when there are no more than, say 30-50 (?) for the other schools.
  17. I think it's more about running up the score early in the season. Not necessarily "we beat them by 30", but more so "we scored 100+ points in 40 minutes of basketball 6/8 times OOC". You win a few games early big, your NET jumps (especially when other teams may be playing big OOC scheduled games early in the season). When the entire conference does it, everyone has a high NET to start conference play. Then, you're almost exclusively playing Q1/Q2 games throughout conference play and going 8-8 in conference is rewarded because all 16 of those wins/losses are Q1/Q2. Houston (1) - 10 Q1, 6 Q2 games Arizona (4) (lost to FAU early in the season) - 10 Q1, 6 Q2 Iowa St. (8) - 9 Q1, 7 Q2 Baylor (13) - 13 Q1, 6 Q2 USF (84) - 0 Q1, 8 Q2 Because the rest of our schedule (outside of FAU/SMU at a neutral site in conference tourney) is against low NET teams, we're at a large disadvantage if we are trying to build our resume this late in the season.
  18. Brad Brownell frustrated Big 12 able to 'manipulate' NET rankings WWW.ON3.COM Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell is frustrated with the way the Big 12 has been able to manipulate the NET rankings.
  19. Kinda disappointed resell tickets in 100 level are $200+. This is obviously great from USF (raise prices next year), but little ol spoiled me enjoyed his section 101 Row B seat for SMU for $35.
  20. Lol CAAR already racked up $50,000 in performance bonuses. Who ever would have thought USF's basketball coach would be cashing bonuses with 3 games to go in the regular season with the potential of cashing every single one remaining?
