  1. Hard to see a future where UNC and Duke are in different conferences; that said they are like the USC/UCLA combo in stature, albeit a basketball tilt rather than football. Have to think the B1G is not passing on Florida, and I do not think FSU will go to the B1G. If USF can win the conference at least once, make the playoff, and continue to build relevance in football/basketball over the next 3 years (increase our athletics budget to nearly $90-$100MM), I think there's a better than zero percent chance us and Miami are paired with UNC/Duke for the B1G. I agree with a minority people on the internet when they're looking at the tea leaves - there's a reason we were added to the AAU before schools with arguably a better resume. Whether that is to appeal to the ACC or B1G, I think we are in play for both. Hot take: we are much more valuable to the B1G than both UVA and VaTech, especially if we make the playoff in the next 2-3 years. Large, public university that is easy to travel to, in the state of Florida, and surrounded by B1G alumni. If we win big over these next 3 years, I think we'll be in a better position than anyone ever expected.
  2. Behind the opponents bench. Let's see how super loud and obnoxious you can really get.
  3. Wasn't quite as full for SMU, but there had to have been at least 8-9k people there. Imagine the revenue bump for athletics if next season we can average 8k per home game. Charge for parking, the concession sales. Now do it again for football. Our athletics department in 2028 will be reporting record revenues. Keep winning. Keep showing up, supporting, and donating. Go Bulls.
  4. Hard to do without a substantial seed for the fund. A $1,000,000 gift can distribute $50,000/yr at a 5% distribution rate. The largest NIL's currently are spending $10MM+/year. I agree a fund would be better long-term, but with how volatile the NCAA/rules are currently, substituting the $1,000,000 for NIL use THIS YEAR will probably impact much more positively than trying to do a 5% distribution. 5-10 years from now, NIL may look completely different (if it even exists). Now, if we had a $100,000,000 gift that could distribute $5,000,000/year, that would be massively impactful right now (and I'd be willing to bet that individual would keep the funds in their name and donate the distributions to NIL every year, instead of endowing the full $100MM). EDIT: I think a similar effect would be to set up an endowment with the DSO and/or the school directly. Funding athletic scholarships can impact athletics similarly, by allowing other resources to go towards facilities/CoL payments. The wealthiest schools have all of their back of house payments taken care of, and can direct their alumni to donate (almost) exclusively towards NIL. I do not think USF is in that position yet, as we can really use the money to pay for stadium, increase coaching pools, etc.
  5. 11 seed in the latest bracketology by Lunardi. FAU an 8 seed.
  6. I'm not a fan of "regular season champs". Nobody will remember it - they only remember the conference champ, and that's the team with the highest score in the conference championship game. Monumental achievement for a program like USF if we can obtain it, but ultimately not what we are competing for.
  7. SMU game will be tough. They're a very good team, and they're coming off a loss. The crowd will be a big factor again. Their stadium holds 7,000 - let's introduce them to what 10,000+ sounds like.
  8. Believe it was Mark Cuban on Shark Tank who I heard this from - "Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered" Whatever this consolidation/breakaway/semi-pro league develops into, will certainly be a less attractive situation than what we have now.
  9. They play for strategy. Missing the free throw at the end (same with the Charlotte game) requires a rebound with a full court transition with no break/stopping. If he made it, there's an opportunity to call a time out and dial up an inbound play. Good coaching.
  10. Biggest takeaway from me here - "Watch on Apple TV" button. Sure seems to open the door for exclusive Apple TV sports content similar to ESPN and ESPN+.
  11. Enjoying this ride on the ML. Don't want to get fancy so it doesn't ruin any of the emotions of USF basketball lol
  12. Stop listening to B12 fans on the ACC matters. Highly suggest some of us branch out to other websites to see the opinions of people of fans from the ACC/B1G/SEC on this matter. The only people posted in this thread are B12 fans - their views are not indicative of the actual market. Further, stop echoing it. Some of the stuff said here is crazy talk.
  13. Yea, their model from the Osceola Project or whatever estimates the new conference in 2026 to be paying over $70MM. I think their primary complaint isn't about past revenues (although that's their legal complaint, the conflict of interest with Raycom), but more so the length of the existing deal. SEC/B1G new deals will be escalating to $70-80MM just in TV, whereas the ACC by 2030 will be around $35/40MM, plus ACCN will bring total to like $50/55MM. Add in the other payouts, and FSU will be at a deficit of say $25-30MM/year to those they see as peers athletically. It makes sense, but will the cost to exit the ACC justify the increased revenue? My guess is no, unless they wait until closer to 2030 to break. It will be really interesting to see how lopsided the ACC's performance payouts will be, as well as the additional ACCN revenue from the Cali/Texas additions. What if the ACC is paying out $60MM/year by 2030? Would you pay $130MM+, say, another $100MM to exit the ACC to earn $20MM-$40MM/year more? Would certainly make sense if the B1G/SEC payouts are $95MM+ come that time. It's also projected that the CFP contract, if the revenue distribution remains constant, will more than double the current payout ($6MM) to over $14MM, PER P4 SCHOOL. That's insane to think. There's a good chance B12 and ACC schools are making $50-$65MM in distributions within the next 3-4 years, where they're currently $41-$45.
  14. '22-23 Conference Distributions are being released: B1G: $58.8MM SEC: $51.3MM ACC: ~$43MM B12: ? (haven't seen anything, please post if you have) ACC school breakdown so far: $47M Florida State Seminoles $46M Virginia Tech $44M Clemson Tigers $44M Virginia Cavaliers $42M North Carolina Tar Heels $41M NC State Wolfpack $41M Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  15. Since the turn of the century, the MLB has had more unique World Series winners (16) than the NFL Super Bowl winners (13). It's more competitive than people realize.
  16. If Rosenhaus gets BB a huge NIL package at another school after this season, that means BB will have a great year with us THIS YEAR. Let's enjoy it. Show up, support, donate. Let's win the conference this year for the first time ever.
  17. Yea it would be great if Memphis and UNT could both hop up into the top 70 NET.
  18. The financial models in the recently released FOIA documents project FSU joining a new conference for 2026. Florida State's Project Osceola FOIA Docs BILLFARLEY.SUBSTACK.COM Is the Seminoles football program seeing a doctor? Six takeaways from this FOIA release EDIT: They also project ACC distribution to be $44.3MM in 2023, $44.4MM in 2024, and $49.9MM in 2025 (up from $40.6MM in 2022).
