  1. Mid 2000's were higher imo. Hopefully the aac is strong this year so there's no validity issues should a 0 or 1 loss season unfold
  2. My bad, I was on my phone and couldn't backwards navigate to confirm, JTrue is the grammar sarge.
  3. If you look at the comments that get negative ratings there's usually not much there deserving a neg rating (unless someone is trolling which I've never done). The only posts that get positive ratings are the ones that either double down on someone else's statement (usually in a show of solidarity) or when someone is blowing smoke up the tailpipe of whatever the collective thought is at that particular moment. Really a rating system has no bearing on how balanced ones comments are, in fact they might show a negative correlation as the rating system merely comes down to popularity. I can't tell you how many times I've been Neg'd then get a 'how terrible it is for you that you are an ecu fan'. I'm pretty sure that my posts arent even read by half the people giving negs at the time.
  4. I don't stir things up, I make some of the more balanced comments here. Some just don't like the delivery. Maybe if I went to grammar school instead of choosing medicine I wouldn't make comma police like NewEnglandBULL so upset.
  5. Aside from Ed Oliver I can't think of many. He's something else, not a detraction to QF. THere's a running back at Tulsa (Brewer) that's also pretty awesome. As far as QB's go I think the best competition for QF is Ferguson in Memphis, we'll see how he turns out. Griffin at UCF is poised for a big year. Not many tbh.
  6. Because when I joined I had just matriculated at ECU dental school and they were top candidates to move up conferences (shoe-in) Get back to me after I graduate in 2018
  7. It wasn't ignored, but overstated by you. He took a good team to the top of a weak conference (at the time), he couldn't break through and largely disappointed compared to expectations then left amidst NCAA violation issues as well as criminal issues. This was the best part of his career. Obviously his time at UT wasn't a resume booster, and his time at UF was fine, but it is not clear how much control he had over the process or results. It's a wash considering his pedigree. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, he hasn't met expectations except for one season with Louisville though. Again, mediocre is probably the best descriptor right now. I've followed the team since practices and scrimmages have started up, and just like anyone else you can't really tell what there is yet. You can speculate, that is all. It's not old data I'm using, it's the latest quantifiable data available. We don't know if USF has the best offense in the conference this year. Last year they were #2 in the conference. QF is one of the best in the conference, but MM and RA were huge contributors and outside of the most diehard fans most are uneasy anointing their replacements as being surefire answers. There are no guarantees. I have USF winning the conference, your last few sentences are not based on fact, just your salt.
  8. It is quantifiable that Strong has had 2 good seasons out of 8 as a coach (and had deeper trouble alone the way); one can define mediocrity (at best) from that. My vocabulary isn't mediocre, your reading comprehension on the other hand may be. 'you guys you guys', blah blah blah. I've probably been a fan of USF longer than you, you just can't take opinions that either differ from yours or don't spell out what you want to hear. Just because I am now a fan of ECU as well doesn't change my long standing support for USF. Your last statement is something that someone without a lot of positivity would talk about. I never even mentioned ECU, that was all you and someone else. What better way to make miserable people feel better about their situation than to divert attention away from the topic to an unrelated one?
  9. http://www.cfbstats.com/2016/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category10/sort03.html I wouldn't count on the 121st/128 FBS defensive team becoming the best in the conference. That is unrealistic. Once again you resort to irrational emotion for the rest of your...opinion. Don't mind quantifiable means that show what someone else is saying is objective and reasonable. We can't have that kind of logic around here!!! If you really think I was bad mouthing a coach by saying he is mediocre then you have bigger problems than your tenuous emotional state. I hope you take solace in your record vs ECU over the years, big deal. It doesn't make you look any less crazy.
  10. It's going to be a tough year, I expect a couple wins before Tulane but 5 wins would be a successful season. It all comes down to the level of defensive improvement.
  11. 1/3, 0.5 point for Strong having a Sugar bowl victory-though hardly an indicator that he isn't otherwise mediocre, and another 0.5 point for Montgomery having a bad first season as a coach, though that is even less an indicator for ultimate mediocrity. 1/3 is generous.
  12. God I hope not. Braxton blew out his shoulder in his most hyped season, missed a year, changed to a position where his athleticism got him drafted, but now is injured again and may never stay healthy.
  13. Best in the conference? By what measure, seriously? Most stats I see have them at or near the bottom of the conference last year. I expect improvement, but all the way to best?!? If a single bowl victory is your measure for a good coach then why not hire George O'Leary? Strong's history is available on the interwebs, if you research you will see he has had more disappointing seasons than good ones, the definition of mediocrity. You are too emotional to be handing out thumbs up and downs. Any objective look at Strong shows someone who has pedigree but hasn't lived up to said pedigree, hence why he is not coaching at P5 level anymore. Responding to the comment that a coach who has two good seasons in 8 years (including a blown national championship opportunity being one of the good seasons) is mediocre with calling a first year G6 coach mediocre is at best small. You surely are better than that.
  14. Charlie Strong is pretty mediocre. His in-game decision making is below average. His biggest attribute is his recruiting ability. I wouldn't put too much weight in this article of course. I think #1 is a big deal even if doesn't mean USF 'stinks' though. The schedule is so terrible that if you lose once, someone will probably pass to the NY bowl. I do think I see run defense and secondary as liabilities, its just a matter of how tested they will actually be this year (with the schedule).
  15. The Renovated/new Ingles are nicer than any Publix I have ever seen. They have better produce for sure, I'd argue their deli is equitable since they use the same suppliers but I know how this board feels about Publix Subs so I'll let that go. They have a better beer section by a long shot too but that's probably bc they are based out of Asheville and nothing personal against Publix. There are still a few of the old ones from the 50's-60's around though, so if that's what you're familiar with then I can't blame you for feeling that way. Honestly Publix's jam is the bakery and deli, outside of that they are on par with just about any other grocery store except more costly. I don't utilize facebook anymore, though it sounds like you are describing facebook crowds-not specific to any particular school. I have been to boneyardbanter, though I am not a contributor. I don't see any vitriol or negativity there that hasn't been equaled or surpassed here at times fwiw. I would have to say that IN GENERAL I do see more blind faith on their side, and everything that comes with that. Overall I think that's a good thing, passion and whatnot. It does have downsides though.
  16. Ingles is nice. But the real competition for Publix in the Mid Atlantic is Harris Teeter, that's why they've been unable to break in so far...though they are encroaching on Charlotte. I am far from narcissistic. Do you know what that means? You do realize that I grew up a USF fan? I've probably been a fan longer than you. I made it clear on many occasions that I have a split allegiance. Grow up.
  17. I'm not saying there haven't been trolls from ECU fans-they exist for almost every school, but by and large USF is not on their radar except one week a year in the fall...maybe in baseball circles from time to time as well. That's an egregious spelling error for sure, but those are the coolest scholly offers I have ever seen. I think any mid major talent would be excited to open something like that.
  18. Claiming Publix for Tampa is a stretch. Winter Haven/Lakelanders associate more with Orlando than Tampa despite being slightly closer to Tampa. That would be great to get them aboard though.
  19. Nice pickups, should be a better season this year.
  20. Would love to see the momentum continue, it will be tough with no teams visiting with a decent travel-fan following. It will probably be up to the students. I was really surprised by UM's increase.
  21. I personally wish I could still be watching my team play in March. If nothing else it offers them further recruiting opportunities. Good for them and hope they beat every BIG 12 team they meet in every sport forever.
  22. A bigger fan base. I'm just playing, that was a great class pull considering how little time there was to put it together. I see more consistency in the Bulls' future.
  23. You'd be assuming wrong again, but you clearly have no issue with that. But hey, if you don't want me here, that is fine. I can shut it down and not come back. Just let me know! Being from the area and a fan of the school and team and its rise, I would rather not do that. I have the ability to enjoy both schools and would like to talk about both of them. I don't make ignorant comments about other posters like you do-and if others feel like my banter is not needed on a largely quiet forum then I will not be missed. And for the record, since I might not be back, I got into both schools..but chose the better regarded dds program that happened to be cheaper for me.
  24. If you had a memory beyond that of a goldfish you would recall that I had ties to USF long before I chose ECU's program.
