  1. I honestly like the idea of building a basic OCS and upgrading it over time. I think that's the 'right way'. The cost of steel has gone up 50% in the last 10 years. I'm not sure what the future holds but it makes sense to invest while you can. I think the other guys used their endowment money to build theirs, no debt costs for them I don't think.
  2. I don't think that second point you bring up is a benefit to us, but a detraction. JMO. I'm excited about achieving eminent status for the sake of the growth of our institution, that's a separate issue. The money difference between us and them was only about 3 million this year from that (they got ~2 million, us 5). It's a nonissue as it relates to conference affiliation. The money from that doesn't even go to athletics.
  3. It wouldn't be accurate to say its based only on success on the football field. I'm certain the Bulls have been discussed outside their regional realm of influence sometimes. The degree to which that has occurred is skewed the other way unfortunately, but that wasn't the point. It was a merely a recent example of their ability to remain pervasive in exclusive media markets outside their own relative realm of influence. The logic to your position is one fraught with cognitive dissonance. If you can't see it for how it is then it will be difficult to identify what can be done to change it. It needs changing.
  4. Not even close. If that's what you got then you missed the original point and instead are focused on the small things. The list does though, except maybe the pre-eminence thing. But I'm pretty sure they're well on their way to that as well.
  5. If they had the things going for them that someone made in that list a couple pages ago then they'd probably have been moved up to a power conference by now. Winning matters, but Boise has to back it up with substance. They have literally nothing going other than fb.
  6. Your sarcasm is noted, but they've been more successful in football than Boise. At least when it matters. Boise sure does get some nice regular season games/wins though.
  7. Someone made a short list a page or two back with the reasons why we could be moved up, all those same reasons apply to them as well, except they've been successful in athletics (not just football) as well as (and more importantly) manipulating the media. They just had a segment today on SEC radio in Knoxville about their QB. In contrast I've never heard the Bulls discussed here in SEC country. It's ok to be cynical towards the rival and supportive of the home guys but let's not pretend that they aren't a much more visible program across the board right now. They're just bigger and more recognizable.
  8. I'm not trying to be argumentative at all, your statement isn't correct though. And yes, ultimately, they could. The vice versa is also possible, though UCF has a decided advantage currently in marketability. It's more a statement of the future of the two markets becoming a singular super market.
  9. The biggest roadblock I see to inclusion in a power 5 conf is that we're left hoping that there are multiple schools promoted; there's probably 3 schools in our conference that have a leg up, with one not far away that can carry the Tampa market. If the powers that be decide to bring up more than one school they may deem it better to look into adding Houston or Cincy in addition to a FL school instead of just bringing up two FL schools that are close enough to count as a quasi singular market. At this current stage if only one FL school is promoted I don't see it being us unfortunately.
  10. It was a question, not criticism. The map you posted explains why Orlando has such low population number I guess, that is basically no land mass. But to get back to the original point, anything addressed to UCF or the businesses around it are addressed to Orlando. It's Orlando. If Oviedo is something clever than it is what it is I guess.
  11. Unless the campus miraculously moved north of McCulloch (the county line) it's not even in the right county, much less Oviedo: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Oviedo,+FL/@28.6382869,-81.2193027,13z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x88e7698f2645ae37:0xe8840886a49ff6c0!8m2!3d28.669997!4d-81.2081203
  12. Question: Oviedo is in Seminole County, UCF is in Orange County and in the city limits of Orlando-do you think this is a clever burn or do you think you just come across like someone that doesn't know geography?
  13. Forgive my ignorance, I know about the stadium rust thing, but what about UCF is poor or unethical?
  14. I think so too, it needs to be a normal/expected occurrence. It takes time but I believe baseball is well on its way.
  15. Now the quote above yours Trip would be an adequate example of not knowing what the term means.
  16. One of the biggest factors into the AAC attaining true P6 Status is that it is already a 'power' conference in basketball. If we can get some consistency in baseball then I think it's only a matter of time until it bleeds into football as well. If the AAC can get 1 or 2 teams deep into March Madness this year they will be on the tongues of the media year round.
  17. Tulane made their comeback against the starters, sure there were subs in and out but you know nobody plays the WHOLE game. I know you get easy brownie points without regard to logic here just for contradicting me, but there is nothing but truth in the statement that the other guy was throwing proverbial stones in a glass house; don't criticize others that had same problem/weakness as you! The only difference between the two games was one team was playing a good team and lost while the other team was playing a bad team and held on. I know you aren't that dense. Wow, quite the use of semantics. However you need to twist it to hide your faulty statement is okay by me. Even if Houston pulled out the narrow victory against Memphis and just say both teams nearly lost their leads, if you really think being up by 10 against Memphis is safer than being up by more than 4 touchdowns against Tulane then I don't know what to say at this point.
  18. What's the best offensive team faced yet this year? Tulane or ECU? I think your right on your last sentence.
  19. QF and DJ were in the whole game, don't know what game you were watching but it was starters the whole game.
