  1. lmao Deion has been a candidate talked about for FBS jobs for years now and McMurphy waits till the day after he's linked to USF to muddy his name here
  2. Also heard he wants to get his Shedeur Sanders into the NFL 3k yards on 65%+ completion with 30 TD's and less than 10 picks is nice at the FCS level. But doing that at USF could get him drafted in the top 3 rounds
  3. That attention would do wonders for NIL too. With the program getting so much buzz local companies may actual see the value in being associated with our stars
  4. -Our attendance would immediately be improved -we'd be more likely to keep guys like Horn/Battie from entering the portal -we'd immediately get a talent infusion in the portal -we'd get so much attention in the media the Times probably gives us a beat writer again Fundraising for a stadium would become so much easier. Felt like the slam dunk from the start, now that I know this is possible i'm just preparing myself to be let down.
  5. i didn't think it was possible for them to be worse than the football team. Love what Kelly is doing for facilities but he has been here for 4 years now and our 2 best sports have absolutely cratered under his watch. If by fall of 2024 we don't have a winning football team and a stadium under construction he needs to be gone.
  6. Why Deion is the best hire we could get. He didn't go there because Jackson State's NIL collective. He got 250k from Barstool to play under Deion. We get Deion and we get the NIL backing that comes with it.
  7. Its trending towards just being a straight up minor league that happens to be sponsored by Universities. We're closer to players not being students and just employees of the university than players being actual regular students that attend their universities like most of their peers.
  8. Urban, Jim, Deion. Any of those 3 and season tickets/donations are going up before a game is played
  9. If he's still just throwing names on that he thinks is a good foot I'm thinking there is no real smoke to any candidate, otherwise the board would be narrowing down. I know Charlotte just hired a coach and had no leaks until it was announced and it was a candidate nobody really speculated. Thinking a similar thing may happen for us where we don't have any idea who it is until he's hired
  10. Do the VIP boards even have intel at this point? From the way people talk on twitter it sounds like even there its all still just speculation.
  11. Jackson State HC Deion Sanders: 'I would be a fool not to' consider Power Five job Sanders spoke about his coaching career during an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired on Sunday night. This was only last month, don't think he'd say this unless he thought he was ready for the next step. Don't think Auburn or Nebraska take that risk. Wisconsin is likely going for Jim Leonard. Georgia Tech has too many recruiting restrictions for him. If it comes down to USF vs Colorado vs Arizona State I don't think its too crazy for him to think we'd be the easiest place to win at for 2-3 years then turn it into a bigger job. He has like 14 blue chip kids on that roster too, have to imagine we'd have an immediate talent infusion of guys following him from Jackson State in addition to traditional recruiting
  12. If De Prato beats UCF he's officially higher in the all time USF coach rankings than Jeff Scott.
  13. I'd be all for Urban. We'd certainly be interested if he was willing right? One of his favorite things about Gainesville was not having to travel to recruit. We could pitch it as a place where he could never go further than a 3 hour drive and find all the talent he needs to go undefeated in this conference. Also his family now lives in the Siesta Key area so if he doesn't want to move this would be his best bet to return to coaching.
  14. I like him better than Marsh, looked accurate today even when incomplete
  15. yeah I don't get the Tom Allen hype. He had a good year when Michael Penix was taking over games but has sucked other than that.
  16. Jim Leavitt attended USF’s hall of fame banquet. Could induction be close behind? The relationship between the university and its ex-football coach appears to be mending. While that last quote is a no, it's certainly more of an uncertain no than the "no chance in hell" vibe thats been given off in the past
  17. If we keep Gerry Bohanon same system, he was on fire before getting hurt
  18. Was thinking about that the other day...WVU, Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers may make more money now but I have to imagine their fans had a lot more fun before they left the Big East
  19. don't want to get my hopes up BUT all the people who have said Leavitt back to USF is never happening also we're saying Jeff Scott absolutely wasn't getting fired this year because the extension
  20. In a way Leavitt is less risky than other candidates. No other coaching hire would result in such an immediate uptick in season ticket sales and inspire more OCS donations, which we desperately need. In Leavitt's last 3 P5 games we averaged 57,395 in attendance. In our first 3 P5 games right after Leavitt we averaged 41,742. The team had the same record in the same conference too. We absolutely lost fans in our handling of Leavitt that would be re-interested in the program if we brought him back.
  21. There's going to by 9 teams in that conference with brands on the Auburn/Florida/A&M level or higher. There's going to be a handful of teams that have fanbases expecting 10+ wins almost every year that will turn into middling 6-6 programs. If some of these 80k stadiums start becoming 60% full after a few years of that I wonder if you have big brands looking to break off into smaller more manageable conferences. These conferences make sense from a money viewpoint, but fans don't see that money. If I'm a fan of Arkansas or Ole Miss I'm not that excited going 4-8 every year
  22. Good point, but there is a USF coaching staff you could make that have people with actual experience HC: Jim Leavitt DC: James Rowe - played baseball at USF. But since then was DC at Valdosta State and they led D2 in interceptions, 3 year defensive assistant for the Washington Commanders, Broyles award nominated DB coach at App State, DB's coach for the Colts, and now DB's coach for the Bears Co-OC: Larry Scott - interim HC at Miami, OC at Tennessee, HC at Howard Co-Oc: Marquell Blackwell (Co-OC at Houston and now RB's coach at Ole Miss) LB coach: Auggie Sanchez - cerebral player who is the HC @ Seminole in Pinellas, leading them to 8-2 currently Then you'd have the guys like Flowers & Kayvon Webster who have mentioned they would like to get into coaching be lower level assistants.
  23. Gruden's issue would **** him with recruiting while Simmons seems to be recruiting just fine now in the state of Florida. That's a big deal and why Simmons is a candidate and Gruden isn't. But the Chiefs OC has been passed up now for HC jobs a few times because of domestic violence charges 30 years ago. A domestic violence charge 10 years ago is definitely enough to rule out Simmons
