thats just wrong In 2020 they had the 19th best defense in the country In 2021 they had the 25th best defense in the country In 2022 they have the 89th best defense in the country Even in their worst year under Chadwell the defense is significantly better than USF's has been under Scott

The only thing I've thought of that makes sense is we have a deal with a coach who is in a conference championship game and doesn't want to announce it until after (Think Frost -> Nebraska) Everyone knows this tweet would be stupid if you didn't already have someone locked up. This is probably letting the fanbase know "we have our guy, you're going to like him, but we can't say anything yet"

In 2020 his defense was 19th best in PPG (ours was 122nd) In 2021 his defense was 25th best in PPG (ours was 117th) In 2022 his defense was 89th best in PPG (ours was 130th) 1 year of mediocre defense could be explained with injuries, attrition, etc. He has shown to understand complimentary football and has had good defenses more often than he hasn't.
