What we know?
There were reports earlier in the week we have our guy. But it sounded like he had a game this weekend so we we're waiting until afterwards to announce.
The admin would prefer someone with HC experience and ties to the Tampa bay area.
Chadwell is likely going to Liberty
It could still be Deion, but it could also be one of these names that haven't been mentioned and the rumor mill has just been way off the rails. I looked through the coaching staffs of the upcoming games this weekend and found the non Deion names that fit this description:
Toledo - Jason Candle HC - Been there 7 years and has never had a losing record. While not a home run on the surface a lot of evidence he could be a lot better than what we've been the last 5 years. Look at Sonny Dykes, some coaches are a lot better than the resources they have at the school allow them to be. Not sure if Jason Candle is that guy, but a 65% win percentage in conference against his peers is respectable. Would also likely bring Robert Weiner as OC (who former Bull Vincent Jackson has pushed as a good candidate), been great with QBs for Toledo and won 4 state titles at Plant over 15 years so may be the best candidate after Deion for recruiting the Tampa area.
Georgia - Will Muschamp DC - 56-51 career record in the SEC. Gators coach for 4 years for Florida ties. Great defensive mind, has Georgia as the #1 defense in the country at the moment. Saban was famous for taking in failed coaches and whipping them back into shape, is it time Kirby's school of coaching graduates their first student?
Georgia - Todd Monken OC - Took over an 0-12 Southern Miss team and won 9 games in year 3, has experience with rebuilds. Buccaneers OC for 3 years in the Winston era so has some ties to the Tampa area. Year before he got to Georgia they had the #50 scoring offense, his first year they had the #38 scoring offense, his second year they had the #9 scoring offense and won the Natty with a walk on QB, and this year they have the #12 scoring offense.
