    He doesn't even need to be a coach, just being on the sidelines being a hype man during games would put so much energy back into this program and fanbase

    Choking a women is worse than sending derogatory emails, and I think Jon Gruden has too much baggage for this job. Not to mention when we chased off our best coach because he hit a player, hiring a man who has a DV charge a decade later would feel really hypocritical

    Mullen's recruiting classes national rank at UF: 12th, 9th, then 9th. He couldn't recruit at the level needed to compete against the Georgia's and Alabama's of the world. That's not a problem at USF. Dan Mullen's downfall at Florida was too much loyalty to a bum DC. The 2020 gators averaged 40 a game, but finished 8-4 because they let up 31 a game. And Mullen still brought him back. That loyalty to Grantham was what caused him to flame out, not recruiting.

    Scott gives me major Charlie Strong vibes -amazing G5 coach with a great QB -leaves that great QB to go to a P5 job and never even musters a winning record If we're going retread go for Herman or Dan Mullen. They both have sustained success across multiple jobs at multiple levels. Scott Frost would be a disaster

    Agreed, I’ve gotten the impression that Kelly wants a guy who is an easy sell to the fanbase and an interim who was here Scott’s entire tenure would leave a lot of people uneasy. Ive seen the Willie Simmons chatter but I’d be surprised if the guy isn’t one of these 5: Dan Mullen, Tom Herman, Deion Sanders, Jamey Chadwell, and Matt Rhule.

    I was sold on Willie Simmons during that UNC game earlier this year. FAMU had 20 players ineligible due to some admin issues. Playing a team that is currently 8-1, ranked #15, and in line to play in the ACC championship. FAMU still fought and clawed and was down 21-14 with a minute to go in the first half, and down 35-24 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Jeff Scott's USF wouldn't have hung around with a middling AAC team with 20 players ineligible, then we'd hear about how great it was they kept fighting afterwards. Willie Simmons had an FCS team down 20 players competing with one of the best P5 teams in the country for most the game.

    Through 2 games the 3 point sharp shooter Tyler Harris is 1-14 from deep. Last year Boggs was supposed to be great from distance and also struggled. There has to be something about Gregory's offensive system that has guys feeling uncomfortable from range. Its unprecedented how consistently bad we are on 3's and FT's.

    Kelly has a goal to have the new coach hired before December 5th when the transfer portal window opens. A big part of that could be so guys can see who their new coach would be before finalizing any decisions on transfers. If we were to get Deion I'm sure we would have a lot of guys pumped to play for him and change their mind on transferring

    I'm excited because I think even a conservative hire like Willie Simmons would immediately mean 5+ wins next year and god I miss winning

Also Flowers has posted on facebook that he wants to get into coaching. Bob Shoops son was an analyst this year, would think Q is way more qualified...

    Good in college -> fail in NFL -> back to college typically has a pretty high hit rate. His year 1's at Temple and Baylor had 3 combined wins, in both cases he was in the conference championship game year 3.

    Brian Battie's dad responding to someone saying Gruden's off the field stuff wouldn't matter. Sounds like it would absolutely rule us out for a lot of kids

    Herm Edwards probably the closest example. Could see Gruden going a similar way: seems like were starting to turn things around but breaks some trivial NCAA rules and it blows up in his face

    Whether or not he's a realistic candidate, it seems like there is enough smoke around him that there is some interest from one party. Given how complicated his history is and his ties to this area I figured it would be interesting to see where the fanbase is at on him.

    The idea that they wouldn't have fired Scott without a good idea of who they wanted probably has some legs but that would be fast. Would be shocked if Kelly wasn't thinking about the next direction of this program for a few weeks now.
