  1. i think thats what we're trying to do. if we hear the announcement before Saturday thats what happened especially with VCU's job recently opening up
  2. Just went over to the Utah State message board and this being drawn out actually makes some sense with what they're saying... Ryan Odom to USF is a done deal, the decision was made on the 24th. But Ryan Odom's buyout is currently 1.2 million, on April 1st it drops off a lot (estimates to around 800k). Currently USF and Odom are fine with waiting a week to sign to save 400k, and are playing chicken with Utah State to get them to reduce it so both schools can move forward. KUTV reported yesterday that today he is on a plane back to their campus. If that is to tell his team he is leaving we could hear the announcement today or tomorrow.
  3. on paper that would be about as much of a home run as this program is capable of.
  4. Charlie Strong had no sustained success when we hired him. Just 2 good seasons with a 1st round NFL QB. Brey turned Delware into a tourney team. Then took a Notre Dame team that hadn't made the tourney in 10 years and made it more often than he missed it over 20+ years
  5. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2022-04-06/mens-di-college-basketball-coaches-most-wins Yup, top 100 all time in NCAA winningest coaches. Over 27 years of coaching he averages 21+ wins a season. Best resume of anyone we've ever hired besides Lee Rose
  6. sounds like its not official yet. Joey Knight and Pete Thamel reporting no offer has been extended. This would be some serious blue balls
  7. I like it, don't think we could have done much better. Way better resume than the last couple guys we hired. Has the clout to recruit well too
  8. wonder how different things would have been if Yetna never tore his ACL right before the season after the CBI championship
  9. If Gregory isn't fired I'm out on Kelly. But I'll give it till Monday night before I've lost hope on that still happening. I thought there was no way to justify keeping Gregory after last year, after another disappointment I'd be convinced winning isn't Kelly's first priority
  10. that makes a lot of sense. this seems like a mockup to focus on the different shade options. I'm sure there are mockups that show the different options for how club/suite seating is oriented, how the football ops building is connected, etc
  11. interesting. does the source for this have any info on if the big donors have liked these?
  12. This rendering is dated 2 months ago and we just approved 22 million to actual design a stadium. Safe assumption this isn't what its going to look like, if it was why would we need 22 million to design it
  13. exactly. Going from a 1-11 G5 team to the SEC is fair to call it a graduation to big boy football
  14. Gerry's last couple games before the injury he was pretty money. I'm being open minded with all personnel decisions though. I'm still under the belief this roster has more talent than a lot of our conference and Scott was just so clueless he was holding us back
  15. Wow sounds like they are going to be ambitious here. The pedestrian bridge is already there too so tailgating on campus, going to a game, then walking over to the bars after could actually be a thing. Between this, the on campus stadium, and the work being done on Fowler/UMall area is going to make the area unrecognizable in 10 years
  16. now thats a good one, has all the luxury boxes on one side so you can have the concourse but still looks like a real stadium Cost 383 million in 2021 dollars for 50k capacity. Something similar but chopping off 10-15k in capacity and adding shade seems realistic
  17. not that stadium exactly, but that shape of a consistent bowl throughout and the luxury seating spread out. The way all that luxury seating is stacked on one side just looks awkward. There's a reason a lot of the comments have been about not liking the rendering because it doesn't look like a stadium I suppose doing it like that allows them to have a big club concourse that wouldn't be possible with it spread out though
  18. Something about it doesn't look right, I think its one side having more space for luxury boxes than regular seating giving it a lopsided look. A 35-40k version of OK State's stadium would be my preference. Just a horshoe shaped bowl with all that luxury seating spread out around the entire top. Then throw all the shade you want on top of it still, that parts fine.
  19. Not having 40k+ red seats at every game is honestly what i'm most excited about. Everything else is just gravy
  20. It does mention on the bottom that this was a draft from January 9th. I'm sure they are continuously making drafts, we give them our feedback, and they make updates. So even if this is real it may be pretty different from what we end up building. Which I think was the point of them not releasing renderings already
  21. interesting design, need to see it from more angles to get a grasp on things. Looks small, but even the field looks small in that pic so that may just be the angle. Curious to hear what the attendance capacity would be with those renderings
  22. Fair point. Here's to hoping now that the common denominators of the last few years (Jeff Scott and S&C staff) no longer being here plays a part into the defensive turnaround.
  23. If you take the worst defense of his 17 year DC career its still 10 PPG and 100 YPG better than USF's defense last year. USF under Scott: 2020 39.9 ppg, 2021 34.7 ppg, 2022 41.2 ppg Orlando’s career as DC: UConn 75 games; 21.9 ppg FIU 25 games; 25.3 ppg Utah State 28 games; 18.4 ppg Houston 27 games; 22.0 ppg Texas 40 games; 24.9 ppg USC 18 games; 29.8 ppg FAU 12 games; 26.7 ppg Seems like other than USC he's been an above average DC
  24. Just realized Southern Miss and Bama road games will be a week apart in 2024 and its only a 2.5 hour drive between those campuses. Game -> week vacation in Nola or Gulf Shores -> Game may be in the cards
  25. Once we make a bowl game again I'll start worrying about the prestige of our opponents. Miami at home next year should be fun. Gives Golesh a year to get the ship righted before a home game that could win back some of the fanbase.
