it's kinda as if they just threw in some trainees for the game. "USF and SMU, send in the interns. What harm could they do?"

That's what I would have done.

I definitely can't blame them.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but doesn't the defender have to be engaged in a block before a chop block can occur or am I just drunk...these aren't chop blocks

 

Actually, no.  If two players go simultaneously "high/low" - that is also a chop block.

 

The only one I saw that was questionable was the call on Swanson & Mack (the third one called)... Swanson was "enganged" from behind with one hand streched way out toucing the shoulder of the defender, Mack went for the legs.

 

The other three were clearly chop blocks -- and were bad decisions by the RB/FB who went low.
