Would Houston let him come to a conference foe? Or is is it different then transfers?

I believe it's different.

Richmond receives release from Houston

Another 2014 point guard is back on the market.

JaQuel Richmond, a three-star point guard out of High Point (N.C.) Wesleyan Christian School, informed Scout.com that he received a release from his Letter of Intent to Houston on Wednesday.

Richmond committed to Houston on August 26th over interest from Creighton and Texas A&M. The 6-foot guard said this time around he's looking for a team that plays fast.

"I'm just really looking for that good relationship with the head coach and also a team that likes to run and push the ball real fast because that the type of point guard I am," Richmond told Scout.com

Among the schools already involved with Richmond are Boston College, South Florida, Virginia Tech and UNC-Wilmington.

In the past when a recruit was serious about wanting to play fast, it was time to move one by USF as that wasn't a match. Now USF is going to be much, much more of a running team and pressure defense so Coach O can truthfully sell that point to the recruits.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
