Really? Up until the mid '80s they were a pretty major basketball program. Got hit by a few scandals and I think, disbanded the program for a few years. Never really recovered since then.

If you like college athletics history the 1951 USF football was one of the best teams in the country. They were invited to one of the major bowl games in the south. I think it was the Orange Bowl. However, since they had 2 black players, their acceptance into the bowl was contingent upon the 2 black players not participate or even travel with the team. The team voted to not play and actually decided to disband football.

That team had 3 Hall of Famers. The team Manager became the NFL Commissioner.

There was an interesting documentary about that team not too long ago.
