@TB_Times: USF increases fundraising goal to $1 billion http://t.co/x2pVA84uu6

And of course...the questions come

@usf94: USF officials announce new fundraising goal: $1 billion http://t.co/jYZQajPKSj via @TB_Times << money for our new #USF football stadium?

Doubt it but would be ecstatic to be wrong. Given our conference situation a new OCS would go a long way to smooth over concerned alums, by demonstrating that we continue to plan for the future.

I think this could be the start of a stadium fund raising effort.

That's what the NFL spends on a stadium so it might be part of that, but obviously its more than just a stadium on their wish list.

I believe USF has already raised over 660 million so they are over half way there to 1Billion. But no, this is not for an OCS. The 1st priority is to get that indoor field house built. Then they can focus on OCS.

Indoor field house is $14 million...that's pennies when compared to the $360 million more they want to raise. And like last time, I'm sure they will go over...ESPECIALLY if they announce some of it will be towards an OCS.

That's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Get your name on a brick....I'm there.

Is this earmarked for athletics or education?

Realizing that not all of the money could/would go towards an OCS, woul they spend enough that we don't end up with a upgraded high school stadium?

The answer is "yes".  Read the article linked.  Of the $621 million raised only $40 of that was to Athletics.  This a a University drive, which included athletics.
