NEWS: The Mavericks have actively shopped Dominique Jones.

ANALYSIS: Jones played well in summer league but seems to be without a role entering the season. The 24-year-old is expected to become an unrestricted FA as the club is unlikely to pick up his option for next season.

Hard to say he made the wrong choice when he has an NBA championship ring.

Hopefully he lands somewhere where he can get in the line-up. Playing for a competitive team shouldn't really matter to much for him now.

Have to know how to play defense to get regular minutes in the nba. Seems as if he will be a back end bench offensive spark if that in his career. a poor mans chucky atkins maybe, I hope he stays in as long as possible. I'd do his job for 25% of his salary.

No matter what he made the right move to go to the nba and its not even a discussion...he is what he is, wouldn't have gotten much better with another year. Nba coaches and support are way better than college.

DoJo has a lot of upside, unfortunately he has averaged less than 8 minutes per game during his 2 seasons in the league... hard to rack up stats with no playing time.

and while his per-game stats are ****, expand him to per-36 minutes and he averages 12 points, 6 boards, 5.5 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. that's not to say he would average that if he played 36 minutes a game, but he is fairly productive when he's in the game.

at this point he would be better off going to a team in rebuild mode that's not stacked with talent on the bench ahead of him. he could be a solid rotation player if he simply doubled his minutes... he won't get that on a team like the Mavs that are trying (in vain, IMHO) to compete for a championship.

i'm with Dan: Orlando would be a good place to start.

he could thrive in orlando being they're doing some rebuilding. he definitely needs to improve on defense. or another team that is just looking for some depth help, though most teams are probably close to settled at this point minus early season injuries.
