Tradition Runs Deep at South Florida

It is one of the most iconic moments in all of college football: A capacity crowd of nearly 67 thousand at USF's Raymond James Stadium standing and cheering as a live flamingo soars over the field and “War Flamingo*†is hammered out by the USF Marching Band.

But for newcomers to BE football, the “War Flamingo†phenomenon can also be rather confusing.

Besides, some might ask, aren’t USF teams called the Bulls?

* USF's fight song.

War Eagle is not Auburn's mascot. They are the Auburn Tigers, War Eagle is their "battle cry". Not saying that anyone should use anything, but if War Flamingo were to be used, people would still know that USF is The Bulls.

Who said it was?

War Eagle is the title of Auburn's fight song,

War Eagle!

War... Eagle, fly down the field.

Ever to conquer, never to yield.

War... Eagle, fearless and true.

Fight on, you orange and blue.

Go! Go! Go!

On to vict'ry, strike up the band.

Give 'em hell, give 'em hell;

Stand up and yell, Hey! War...Eagle win for Auburn,

Power of Dixie Land!

I know that some of the comments in this thread are jokes, but shouldn't tradition be something that is unique to OUR school, not some sort of play off someone else's?

Is USF's fight song.War Flamingo?

It could be!

USF Bulls are we, {WAR FLAMINGO!}

We hold our standard upright and free.

For Green and Gold we stand united.

Our beacon lighted and noble to see.

USF Bulls are we, {WAR FLAMINGO!}

For USF we'll always be.

With all our might we fight the battle

here and now, and we will win the

victory...

(shout!) S-O-U-T-H F-L-O-R-I-D-A

South Florida, South Florida

Go Bulls! {WAR FLAMINGO!}
