I'll be driving over from Orlando for the FSU vs USF game and wanted to see if there were any places (hotels, weekend apartment/house rentals, etc.) in the area that you would recommend. Distance to Raymond James isn't as important as finding a nice place that will not break the bank.

Downtown Tampa has some nice hotels, or you could also get a room on one of the beaches. I live by the beach in pinellas county and it takes me 30 minutes or so to get to the stadium...I do get there 5 hrs early though

Welcome 2 Noles 1 Cup, the locals can help you more than me....but the best time I ever had in town for the game was when I took the family to the coast for a stay. Because of the time of year, it wasn't pricey. Seeing that you're a landlocked fellow, think about getting on the beach for the weekend.

Personally I like the Shepard's Hotel Resort since you have an all you can eat buffet, its on the beach, and they have a decent bar on the water as well. If drinking and eating on the beach is not your thang then you can find plenty of other options that are sans fun.

September-October is a dead time for the local beaches so its probably the best place to hit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had know idea staying near the coast would be a relatively cheap option because of the dead season.

Just look around online, most of the places on Clearwater beach are nice, plus you can't beat staying on the water.

I would recommend sites like hotels.com or kayak.com. Good deals can be found there.

There's a few hotels in the West Shore area which is close and there's a Courtyard really close to the stadium

Also if you want a more traditional college feel then there is a really nice Embassy Suites on USF's main campus
