Haven't been on here in a while, and just saw a few Penn State posts (and the new article about UM).

How can the issue in Penn State become known in November, and they already have a strong sentence handed down from the NCAA investigation.

Yet, it has been about 18 - 24 months since the UM story broke, and more stuff is happening, allegedly, yet nothing. NCAA is as silent as can be.

They have handed down sentences faster than this before. It is almost like they are waiting and are going to give a soft sentence once it has all settled down.

UM should be getting a pretty serious penalty, probably in line with what Penn State got.... Am I missing something here?

The NCAA took the cheap, easy, quick way out with PSU ... Taking someone else's "investigation" at face value and going off that.

The Freeh report was not done by the NCAA, but they based their penalties off of it.

Maybe Freeh should head up the Miami investigation.

Yeah, the PSU penalties were not in the scope of the NCAA's power but agreed to by their president. And it seems the board is ticked that he didn't go to them and get that approved. There may still be lawsuits flying in this mess, between PSU and the NCAA. Some former students have come forward disputing the report. What a mess.

"NCAA taking someone else's investigation" PSU agreed to the findings in the Freeh Report so really made it easy to hand down sanctions. Keep in mind the NCAA also made it clear that more sanctions could come to the school and individuals if more information is later found out.

NCAA did the right thing and giving them the sanctions as quickly as they did. (healing needs to begin and the quicker the sooner it can start).

UCF gets thier verdict tomorrow, Miami will likley get theirs this year as well.

Miami is a repeat offender and seems like every day more and more information comes out. Miami will get their punishment. Its just a matter of time.

perfect example of why program should be shut down

they are out of control and too many people in power are in denial

Its a public school governed by bylaws. If the president is doing things outside his charter, the board probably has a point. The whole thing wasn't done right, but it was done fast to appease a national outcry.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
