Good read, sad story. I think there is a statistic that 75% of guys who play in the NFL are broke 5 years after they stop playing.

An all too familiar story pertaining to the NFL ... although, Searcy was not a #1 draft pick. He was a first round pick.

Interesting bit of State of Florida trivia ... There have been only three #1 draft picks from colleges in this state. Two from one school, one from another ... Both schools private ... Both schools named for cities.

Off the top of my head, without researching it, I'm guessing Solomon or Matuzak was the one from UT.

Too many good ones over the years from UM to guess...
