perhaps this will jog some reality into mr. woolard: the facts are mr. mccullum has recruited terribly and is not positioning this program to be competitive in a few years in the big east.

by competitive I mean consistently capable of challenging for a .500 record in league play. maybe 4-12 some years, maybe 8-8 in others and an NIT bid with possible NCAA bid, maybe 6-10 others and challenging for an NIT bid. something like that. competitive. instead we are looking at 1-15 for the next several years.

mr. mccullum is saddling this program with mediocre, sub-big east caliber players while alienating many other players as well as coaches and fans.

those are the facts. we will need a new coach after mr. mccullum's third year. i say after his third year because every coach deserves at least three years. but it will take a miracle at this point for mr. mccullum to have shown after his first three years here that he deserves to stay longer.

it is time to start speculating on who the next coach should be. surely there are some hot assistants at major schools who know they could recruit to tampa with the big east membership. a guy who also can coach a little bit. a guy who can do okay in other areas such as not alienating so many players, coaches and fans. who projects a little personality and enthusiasm.

or maybe a proven veteran such as ralph willard is interested. or a high-profile guy with experience such as steve lavin. this program is dead right now. it has been led to the graveyard by mr. mccullum.

None if we change coaches every 2 years without giving them a chance... because we will NEVER have success with a first year coach since every first year coach we will ever have is going to be an up-and-comer no-name.  We aren't going to get a Bobby Knight... so no matter who comes in here, they'll need 4 or 5 years to get anything going.  That is how it works, and of course... fans are just always way too impatient.. that is how that works too.

Tell ya what, this one will be an eye opener for Mr. Woolard.  

BW I'm sure none of the "dark side" really get excited when we lose.  Far from it.  We realize how much better we should be and how much time we are wasting with our current leadership.
