So the marlins closer has been playing under a false name?

He has now left the country.

And all to shave 1 year off of his actual age?

And the Marlins apparently knew about it.

the Marlins found out recently and it was a home land security issue.

Not that it really matters, but that wasn't necessarily his motivation. It's equally possible that he adopted some other real person's real identity because he couldn't get into the country with his own identity, and it just so happens that person was one year younger.
