Travis apparently likes us. Boy, its nice competing for guys like this and D'Vario. He has an amazing 31 offers(before his junior season) and it looks like we may be in his top 3 OR 4. I'm thinking he wants to stay in FL. We are building respect in FL.If they think we are fast now, just wait.

From the Vols ESPN Blog:

"I know Travis very well. We went to school together for about 6 years, and talk 3-4 times a week.

He has no idea what he wants to do for college. At this point, every college seems amazing to him.

Considering who he has always liked, and his family situation, my money says he goes to either USF, Florida, or Miami.

But, he likes Tennessee as well, so who knows".

Hey coach Harrell.....since USF is helping you out.....and we took walk-on's Bobby and Tommy Eveld.......

how about putting in a good word with your boy Travis Johnson.

We added another Jesuit player for the spring.

Greg Auman †@gregauman

Only official addition to USF spring roster is walk-on RB Miles Bennett, former leading rusher at Tampa Jesuit who signed with Army in 2011.

I've actually seen where Travis Johnson may project as a TE or H-back......so I'm all for more weapons.

Who would've thought a few years back when we had like 10 RB's on the roster how quickly that number would drop. We definately need an RB in this class.....but if we can load up with 4 star WR's I'll take that too.

rivals has him as a 3 star and scouts doesn't have him ranked, so he can't be that good :D

he had offers from half of the SEC. I trust their judgement a little bit more than I do Scout or rivals.

Yeah, back then many people on here were complaining that then RB coach Carl Franks was taking too many RB's. The kid who went to Houston, because we wouldn't take him did an outstanding job there. Powell didn't qualify. Ford got dismissed and Taylor quit. Later on Aycock, the transfer from Auburn, also quit, without even playing.

There was a note the other day that Tiger Powell just signed somewhere else. We had him in for a visit right before signing day, but we decided to go instead with JUCO Michael Pierre. We also passed on Sean Price's HS teammate.

All along though we were signing very few WR's. Montague didn't qualify. We passed on Josh Bellamy as well as a highly rated JUCO who ended up at one of the smaller florida schools. Of course we were snakebit by injuries to A J Love and Sterling Griffin. It was obvious for a number of years, that WR would end up being our weakest link.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
