STAYING HOME: Two reserve players will not be traveling with the Bulls to South Bend this weekend, Holtz said. Sophomore Bradley Battles, the team's No. 4 running back, has been suspended for two games for an unspecified violation of team rules this spring. Battles, recovering from knee surgery in December, will be eligible to play Sept. 17 against Florida A&M. Holtz said redshirt freshman defensive tackle Todd Chandler, who was working with the third-team defensive line, is academically ineligible. Chandler has an appeal remaining but will not travel with the team to South Bend; if the appeal isn't granted, he will be ineligible for the 2011 season.

What did Battles do to get suspended?

Is Chandler ineligible due to grades? How hard is it to get the minimum GPA to play...

^ Pretty hard if you don't care. How many athletes have you seen that were handed "C's" or better in HS just because?

I hope Chandler can get his act together, but I'm glad that he's getting a wake up call now.  That scholly comes at a price - gotta keep up the books along with playing well on the field.  Hopefully he'll learn from this and gain some self-motivation.  It would be such a waste if he got declared ineligible for the season.

Come on Todd, if I can graduate you can.  Pick an major that you have a passion for and then start using the Athletic study hall and resources.
