I'm guessing 8 was already taken? My son, 7, was walking by after I read he was back playing football and showed him a pic from the trib article and he said, "That's not him. He had #5 from when he started playing at 7 yrs old in youth football till his first varsity season in high school.he went to #8 and then his true freashman year at USF #8 was taken ( johnny payton) so he used to be 5 and then 8 so he took 13 for his red shirt year, then Payton left and he got 8 back. The starting QB just looked lost out there. Matt came in and boom, touchdown. Just like that. With a week of practice and timing under his belt, he will be even better next week.
