Big East commissioner John Marinatto, in a move that he calls "A step towards progress", announced that the University of Central Florida and East Carolina University of Conference USA will be joining the conference effective August of 2012. "With UCF's success in football, and East Carolina's passionate fanbase, this is really a win/win for the conference"
