USF graduate programs ranks among highest in the country

TAMPA - Bay area residents interested in going back to school for a graduate degree may want to consider a school with some of the best graduate programs in the nation: the University of South Florida.

Right in our own backyard, quite a few of USF’s graduate programs ranked highly among more than 1,200 programs across the nation, according to U.S. NEWS & World Report.

In their 2012 report of America’s Best Graduate Schools, released March 15, nearly 30 of USF’s programs are mentioned, including their medical school, civil engineering and fine arts.

The top five programs are:

Industrial and Organizational Psychology - #8 (ranked in 2009)

Fine Arts: Printmaking - #20 (ranked in 2008)

Public Health - #21 (ranked in 2011)

Criminology - #22 (ranked in 2009)

Audiology - #24 (ranked in 2008)

USF’s provost, Ralph Wilcox, says that these rankings are just a reflection of the standard the university holds itself to.

“These rankings are affirmation of the outstanding scholarship, academic excellence, and global engagement conducted by USF's faculty and graduate students," said Wilcox.

"It is because of the innovative research and service performed by our top rate professors and talented students that USF is in the forefront of the creation of new jobs in support of Florida's future economic growth," he continued.
