Skip's given a lot of value to the "preferred walk-on" designation.  As I understand the only other player that's gotten it was Eveld, and Eveld has shown that if you come in and contribute to the team you'll get your scholarship.

Eveld was going to be a preferred walk on before Leavitt was ever fired.

This is hardly some trailblazing strategy created by Skip Holtz. Every team everywhere uses it.

Because I'm wrong, sorry. I looked it up and he didn't announce he was coming to USF until March, I thought it was much earlier than that.

the Patriot League does not award football scholarships.  it is an incredibly expensive school but it is tough to know what he wouldve had to pay out of pocket to attend
