Ryan Perrilloux was named Mr. Football for Louisianna.

As Smazza would say, "I Knew that."  ;)

It's a shame Grothe just missed out for Mr. Football Of Florida, or we could have had dueling Mr. Football's this coming year.  ;D

Insiders has not yet learned about his interest in USF, but I guess we replace the Miss State visit which was scheduled for 1/16.

At least it's a positive for USF that we have just been added to his list and that he apparently has no interest in UF and Low interest in both Miami and FSU.

So, maybe we have a real shot at him if we wow him on his visit.

Are you kidding, Ryan was named USA Today POY for the HS All-American team.  Two major recruiting guru's have him as the #1 QB (Lemming- who's a tool, and Garvin-who's a UT fool).  The worst ranking Ryan has had is like 14th athlete overall, #2 QB in the nation (just behind Marc Sanchez), and #1 athletic QB in the nation.

Think Vincent Young at UT.  That good.

No we dont' have a realistic chance, but the fact we are listed will still help out future recruiting.

Also, if he's visiting at the same time as other recruits then that might raise our stature in their eyes as well.

Ya nevah know, he might just fall in love with USF, CJL and the team and feel this would be a great place to showcase his talents. After all, the #1 QB in the nation last year, Brian Brohm, went to Louisville and Pitt has a great QB in Tyler Palko. So, he could be our great QB and take us to a BCS game.

Some players want to go to a school that already has great tradition.

Many of the players who come to USF do so to create their own great tradition.

A lot depends on the "mindset" of each player and what they hope their legacy will be in that program.

A "great" player at USF can have a tremendous legacy.

A "great" player at an already established program is just one of many who happened to come down the pike over the years, so his impact won't normally be as great.

Well he has a soft verbal to Texas, so my guess is he is the type to want to go to the "established" program, but it is soft, so... we can dream right?

Carlton Hill had a soft verbal too. He evidently liked the idea of starting a tradition, but he's been under a lot of pressure to go the "safe" way.

Who knows, Carlton might reconsider and reverbal to USF.

BTW Ryan Perrilloux met for 90 minutes with the new LSU coach yesterday.

http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/010405/spo_ryan001.shtml

That article doesn't mention his "supposed" visit to USF.

I hope he doesn't cancel, since he will now be visiting LSU.

Assuming he is still visiting USF and Leavitt gets to meet with him that long, that should be plenty of time to make him BULLieve that USF is going to be the next great football power and that he will be the one to lead us there. Hallelujah!  ;D

i think i read that he would be a midweek visit which is good because he will get more one on one attention and wont have the opportunity to "poison" other recruits in case he comes and just thinks we are a joke compared to UT, LSU etc

I don't think he'll think we are a joke... especially after seeing our facility.  If he is truly doing this out of respect for Dawsey, i don't see him "poisoning" anyone... only good would come out of it.
