Fox Sports Ohio reporting - Nebraska receives invite | Big Ten may stop there

Recommended Posts

jim, what do you think happens to mizzou?

isn't he confined to the leavitt board  ;D

Now that's just funny.

* Nebraska accepts the bid for the Big Ten

* Missouri misses it's "ultimatum deadline."

* The Pac 10 officially invites Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.  They tell Colorado an invite is forthcoming, once the Texas schools officially accept.

* The Texas schools either: tell the Pac 10 to invite Baylor or they'll be forced to decline.  The Texas schools accept the invitations as is, and the Pac 10 invites Colorado.  Baylor or Coiorado will accept.  The confeence changes it's name to the PAC 16.

* With only five remaining teams (KU, KSU, Iowa St, Missouri, and Colorado/Baylor), the Big 12 officially loses it's AQ for both the BCS and the basketball tournaments.  (Regulations require 6 teams who played together for five years).

* Because the Mountain West can't "kick out" their lesser schools, the Big 12 officially invites Utah, BYU, TCU, Colorado State and Air Force to grow to 10 teams.  Additional invitations from the Bg 12 go to Boise State, Houston, SMU, Memphis, and two out of Tulsa/UTEP/Rice.  The third of Tulsa/UTEP/Rice gets invited if Missouri leaves for the Big Ten.  The conference changes it's name to the Big Midwest.

* The remaining Mountain West teams rejoin the WAC to form a 12-team conference.

* The Big Ten, continuing to be rebuffed by Notre Dame, invites Missouri, Rutgers, and Syracuse, and announces they will stop for now at 14.  It does not change it's name (but does change it's logo).

* The Big East announces it will launch a cable channel like the Big Ten and Pac 16, giving football schools the same revenue as the ACC, and invites Boston College, Maryland, and Georgia Tech.

* All hell finally breaks loose...

USF in the Big XII? HAHAHAHAHA no. Here is the entire list of plausible scenarios for us:

- We stay where we are.

- We move up to the ACC (along with everyone else from our league who plays football) after they are looted by the SEC.

- We get completely boned and have to go back to C-USA or some other reject league.

Best case for USF is the Big 10 actually does stop and Texas says no to the Pac-10 and Big -12 decides they want a presence in Fl and takes USF .  I can dream.

Yes, that is true... but at least the first five items will happen.

hey Bevis - I said I can dream and being in the Big-12 minus Nebraska would be alot better then whats left over in the BE or a watered down ACC.

There's dreaming... and then there's when hell freezes over.

Yes, USF replacing Nebraska would be better than the BE or ACC.  But the Big 12 is about to be come a combination of C-USA, the Mountain West, and a couple of Kanas teams... and to me the Big East or the ACC is better than that.

We all thought the Big East would be dead... but it turns out, the Big 12 is a Dead Conference Walking.  The first nail in the coffin will be Friday. The final nail will be when the Texas schools move to the Pac 10.

I think we need to wait and see if Texas really wants to go to the Pac-10.  I just don't know if that is a given.

My point being is "if" Texas isn't moving then there will be a Big-12 and we (USF not the BE) should be proactive and get in the ear of Texas/Oklahoma  -- "Hey guys sure are alot of great recruits in Fl - wouldn't you like to have a presence down there plus we have an excellant TV market.  Its times like these you have to think outside the box and wisper in the ear of the Big Boys - at least make them think about it.
